"I honestly would not stay at the Occidental Tucancun again. The only real positive was the staff — everyone we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and hardworking. Unfortunately, the resort itself was a huge disappointment.
The biggest issue was the food. For an all-inclusive resort, the dining options were extremely limited, and most of the food tasted bland and low quality. Even the buffet food was often stale — the bread was so hard it was practically cracking teeth. The only decent things we had the entire trip were the omelets and tacos, and even those were just okay.
The reservation system for dinner restaurants made no sense. Reservations would fill up quickly or “run out,” leaving guests stuck eating the buffet every night. That defeats the purpose of paying for an all-inclusive experience.
Another major issue: we saw roaches during our stay, which was honestly unacceptable for a resort.
Also, there was no nighttime access to the pools, which made the resort feel boring after dinner since there weren’t many activities or options late at night.
Overall, the staff deserves credit, but the food quality, cleanliness concerns, and lack of accessibility/amenities made this stay very disappointing. I would definitely rethink booking here."
