Family break

Lovely hotel in the perfect location. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Rooms clean and tidy. Good breakfast to start your day off,you can’t ask for more.

Traditional hotel with personal service.

Friendly and helpful staff. Quite expensive for the facilities. A traditional hotel with personal service. Some of the decor needs modernising but some had been recently refurbished. All very clean. Would stay there again. Had evening meal too which was lovely.

A comfortable stay

We stayed in the River Cottage which fit 2 adults and 3 kids comfortably. It is not luxury accommodation and the kitchen was basic but it was warm and very cosy and had all we needed. Would definitely stay again if in the area. The parking was very tight but we managed.

Wedding in Windermere

A weekend break to meet up with old friends and attend a wedding. Great location, nice room, friendly staff and a top breakfast make this somewhere we would return to.

After the previous hotel cancelled five minutes before we were due to check in. The glen burn came to our rescue the staff were brilliant in finding us a room and extremely pleasant. The room was lovely and nice and clean. Breakfast was nice standard English breakfast. Would recommend accommodation prefect location for exploring the lakes.

Nice hotel close to Windermere

Yet another hotel that the owners have abdicated responsibility to juniors to run. Waited 25 minutes for 1 fried egg half a tomato, a slice of bacon and a couple of button mushrooms. Two previous guests were leaving just as I arrived, so I assume the chef was already in attendance. That left me and my wife alone in the restaurant. And it wasn't very well cooked, either. Had a much fuller cooked breakfast the following day in the town centre. Seven minutes - and lovely, too.

Well worth a visit.

Went for a weekend break in The Lakes, although had eaten here previously had not stayed here so thought would give it a try. Very enjoyable stay with good choice of breakfast and very nice evening menu if you want to eat in. Staff friendly and helpful, room clean and comfy although a little small. Car park a big cramped but not really a major issue. Quite central for either Bowness or Windermere village. Overall certainly worth 4*.

Not as good as we hoped!

We were very disappointed. Partly our fault as we did not check where our rooms would be located. On the top floor made access a little difficult. Our friends were offered a family room one floor down but it was very cramped. There was no atmosphere in the lounge but we did enjoy our dinner - very much. Breakfast was fairly ordinary. The orange juice had a strange unnatural taste and the friend eggs were a little rubbery - but the toast was first class! Despite this we had a very good break in Windermere. We probably would not recommend to friends.
