I made a reservation for two nights and couldn’t make it the first night. I got charged for the first night which is perfectly acceptable bc I didn’t call and cancel. But when I showed up for the second night, I was told I no longer had a reservation bc I didn’t show on the first night. I don’t if this is standard in the industry but nobody even tried to contact me to see if I still wanted the second night. I would’ve considered that much better customer service.
Also, it would’ve been so much nicer to have had my late checkout request accommodated. When I’m booking a hotel to see friends and we’re going out at night, nobody wants to wake up to an alarm and drag themselves out of bed. I know rooms have to be turned, but man that would’ve been way better for me as the customer. I’m open to that being an unreasonable request though since I don’t know everything that goes into turning and filling rooms. But it was also a Sunday and can’t imagine the demand for rooms was massive. And the requests often get accommodated at other hotels.
