It was the worse hotel I've ever been in. I would highly recommend anyone not to go. Plus the staff and owner very very rude.

Disappointing

We stayed for just one night. The room was huge, bed was comfortable. It was all fine for just one night, although I would not stay any longer, The place is tired and needs updating. Decor is so old. Breakfast was not good. I had scrambled eggs on toast, I don't think they toasted the bread, it was soaking wet. Coffee was like coffee flavoured water. But, at £90 for a cou0ple B&B, you get what you pay for.

Eliot House Hotel stay

Very friendly staff,great size room ideal for somewhere to stay if site seeing around area with buses and train station nearby. Great breakfast with almost anything you would want on menu. Has its own bar but we didnt use so cant really comment on. Overall a very nice hotel.

The staff were lovely and helpful. We found the room to be dirty. There was dust everywhere and we could even write our initials on the mirror. One of the bedside cabinets was sticky and had drink rings on it and the lamp shade was broken. There were bits all over the floor. General cleanliness was very poor. On a positive note the breakfast was lovely but we would not stay again.

Good value for money hotel

Clean and comfortable rooms with friendly staff.Good choice of breakfast and plenty of tea,coffee and biscuits in the room.Derek the owner was a very welcoming host and look forward to staying there again.

Staff were friendly, polite and helpful. The interior had some lovely features but the rooms were a tired & dated. Kettle didn't work but was rectified quickly and room was extremely hot but a fan was provided. Loo didn't flush properly & bedside table lamp had no socket to plug it in to (odd) and the bed was missing a castor making it slope to one side. Notwithstanding the problems, breakfast was good, it was clean and fine for an overnight stay or a base for day trips.

Nice quiet hotel friendly and helpful staff Unfortunately no restaurant anymore except for Sunday lunch but that was exceptional quality Excellent choice at breakfast Good location for touring Devon and Cornwall

A bit Fawlty Towers, however very friendly. Showers was a trickle and the lamp light in the room was ineffective. Breakfast okay if you like buttered mushrooms.

Don't stay here

The hotel smelled awful, the manager didn't have shoes on as he walked us to our room, the room and hallways also smelled of damp and old dogs. We paid £80 a night through hotels.com, which begs the question of where exactly that money goes, not into this hotel, that's for sure. The staff even told us they don't clean the rooms each day or even straighten things and check on tea bag supply "because of covid", just days before the UK's "Freedom Day". Never have I stayed anywhere where cleaning or a quick spruce wasn't done daily and Lord knows, this place needed a thorough clean or perhaps a demo and rebuild.
