Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno Tokyo

Mitsui Garden Hotel Ueno Tokyo

10/10 Excellent
"Great advantage: hotel is very close to a major train hub: Ueno station. The whole area has an abundance of restaurants that offer Japanese and Asian cuisine. The hotel also has a restaurant with limited hours of operation that serves breakfast from 7am, buffet style and Japanese flavors for about US$16. The rooms are relatively small but with a great mattress and good pillows. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and extremely polite. We flew in to Haneda Airport and took taxis to and from the hotel, just for convenience, although there is a train that may need one transfer to get to Ueno. In brief, I would recommend this hotel. Safe travels"

"Unfortunately, why everything was pretty good including the location and the clean room, we had an issue with the air conditioner. We are on the top floor so it was warm. I brought it up the second day and they were going to take a look at it, but it did not make much of a difference. The Hitachi unit was not only allowed but very inefficient and basically took the entire night to cool the room. So it did work a little bit, but it was minimal and the noise was not not noticeable. Otherwise everything was good, I wish the TV did not have a a volume lock at 40, but that seems to be common at Japanese hotels. Hopefully with the air-conditioning issue being fixed, will definitely stay here again."

"Great hotel for solo travelers! It was very conveniently located near several train stations (including the Yamanote line). Another major plus was having A/C control for the room, as I was visiting in the summer this made a world of difference. Staff were very nice and friendly, but you might need to use a translate app if you have a lengthy question. I would definitely stay here again."
