Shop ‘til you drop at one of Asia's premier shopping destinations! A huge range of big brands are to be found in the multitude of designer shops.
Orchard Road is a two kilometre-long stretch of shopper’s paradise in Singapore city centre, which is packed with the best high street brands and the newest styles, and is very popular with both locals and visitors. Flagship stores are interspersed among the many shopping centres and pedestrian streets which make up this area. Make the most of your trip to Singapore by picking up the latest styles, often at very competitive prices, or enjoy an evening of cinematic entertainment at the Cineplex.
Duty-free shopping is available for tourists at the DFS Galleria, where you can choose from cutting-edge lines like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Prada, with the added bonus that you don't have to pay the sales tax. All of these big names also have non duty-free shops along the high street. The ION Orchard, a short stroll further up Orchard Road, is also highly recommended for label-lovers; Dior, Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana are all represented here.
The biggest shopping centre in the area is Ngee Ann City, which contains the second biggest bookshop in Southeast Asia, alongside a plethora of department stores and fashion shops.
There are plenty of chic, modern cafes and restaurants for when you'd like to get some refreshments and rest your feet. A number of food courts in the shopping centres serve, perhaps surprisingly, some of the best genuine traditional cuisine in the city. Another option for a break is the nearby Singapore Botanic Gardens.
Orchard Road is in central Singapore, and has a range of public transport options, as well as being easily accessible on foot from many of the city-centre hotels. Some street parking is available, but most parking in the area is in pay car parks. The shopping centres are open at differing hours, but most are open every day.
