"We really enjoyed our five night stay at The Gate Hotel Kyoto. The check in staff were very efficient and friendly, especially given there was a large group checking in at the same time. At first, I thought our room was a bit basic, but it was actually very nice. We were on the seventh floor with a beautiful view of the mountains. It was so nice to wake up to this each morning. And the bed and pyjamas provided were very comfortable. We would highly recommend those rooms. Breakfast was good, and for our five night day it was sufficient.
(The only recommendation I would have, is more hooks or luggage racks in the room. We did request one which was promptly brought to us)
The best thing about the Gate Hotel Kyoto, is the fantastic location. You walk out of this quiet hotel, and you’re in the streets with tons of restaurants and shopping and an incredibly lively atmosphere. We are a retired couple and definitely enjoyed the neighborhood. If you are staying in Kyoto for more than a couple nights, I would highly recommend this area as it just offers so much. It is also convenient to get to Kyoto station by train, bus or taxi. "
"The location is very good. Within walking distance to different subway or JR train lines and busses. Very close to downtown. Hotel has natural hot spring and spa facility. After using the hot spring, hotel guests can relax in the VIP room on the top floor to enjoy the night view nearby. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are provided free of charge. "
"The Cross Hotel Kyoto came with high expectations after glowing reports from my sister as well as a good friend. I have to say that in almost every way it delivered. The design of the hotel alone is commendable. "
" I recently stayed at this hotel and had a good experience from start to finish. The check-in process was quick and the staff were welcoming, professional, and eager to help with anything I needed. My room was spotless, spacious, and very comfortable — the bed made for a great night's sleep.
The location was also perfect, with easy access to restaurants, transportation, and nearby attractions. I really appreciated the small touches like complimentary water, quality toiletries, and the overall quiet atmosphere.
Overall, I recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and excellent service. I would definitely stay here again!"
"The location is excellent, the staff helpful and attentive and the rooms comfortable and large by Japanese standards. The only negative I saw is that there is a very small lobby and doesn’t appear to be anywhere to store luggage. The lobby was typically chaotic "
"Great location, very walkable to many destinations. Best breakfast buffet I’ve had with a good mix of western and Asian foods. Clean, helpful staff, coin laundry available. If I return I will stay here again. "
