Hotel Riu Palace Bavaro - All Inclusive

8/10 Good

"Swim up bar was very good, great selection & staff was awesome. The buffett was great, Stefanie & Valentin were awesome. The grounds looked beautifully maintained. The staff is definitely what makes this resort, extremely nice, caring & very helpful. Staff make you feel like you've known them forever. If you drink alot of water make sure to grab bottles at the front desk lobby. Our room fridge wasn't always stocked. Last day no coffee & sugar stocked in room. Excursion Family Boogies, not worth it, just a hustle, rushed excursion, trying to take your money throughout excursion, waste of time, it was booked on the beach of resort so you'd think it would be good. Especially with the amount of money spent to stay there. Killed 2 little bugs in room, appeared to look like a type of roach, careful with luggage. Alot of seaweed on the beach, piled, no cleaners in sight. Again, amount paid for resort you'd think it would be round the clock cleaned. Beach & water are were great other then that. There was one day that was all-round great with no seaweed. Sunrise was beautiful."

"Last year everything looked clean and well kept this year doors are falling apart there is mold on the wall at the main lobby upkeep is not being done as an example one of the woman’s rest rooms had four sinks only one actually had a faucet my wife was shocked "

"Rooms were clean, staff was courteous and accommodating and the pool was well kept same as hot tub , drink lacked alcohol seemed really watered down. I've stayed at this property before and had a different experience when it came to the alcohol. My group did not have the Xhale club benefits I did as far as better alcohol but even that was surprising everything seemed watered down. "

"This trip was one for the books! Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and offered mimosas! We were then escorted to the check in office and the friendly women provided a map of the resort along with some helpful information to connect to WIFI, meal tunes, etc. They informed us that we’d board a trolley to our building and our luggage delivered to our rooms - SHOUT OUT to Felix (and all the other trolly drivers!) The resort is nice, rooms were nice and overall very clean - SHOUT OUT to our housekeeper Carmen a very humble, sweet women! There was so much to see and do on the resort that you didn’t have the desire to venture out of it! The pools are HUGE so no bumping against people. The live entertainment and crowd hype was enjoyable - SHOUT OUT to Chippy, Monarca, Happy, Lebron and the others (can’t remember there names). The pool towel women, Isabel, was a doll, the pool bartenders were down to earth and didn’t skim on making very good cocktails - SHOUT OUT to Manuel & Benvenido (aka Smiley!). Let me NOT forget my favorite Bartender though who served up the best Mojito’s (and sang some tunes!) in the main lobby lounge - SHOUT OUT to Alexander aka Mr. Sexy Black!! As for the buffet meals… the staff service phenomenal - SHOUT OUT to Alexandra, Mannaury, Yunrica & Roberto, Robinson & Daniel - food options were great and the food delicious! Mike Coffee House is a must too - SHOUT OUT to Christobal! Listen - just STOP! This is where you want to stay and ENJOY!! "

Hotel Riu Republica - Adults only - All Inclusive

6/10 Okay

"So first things first, my original room was not ideal. There was mold by the air vents, AC doesn't work too well and the walls, bedsheets and smell of the room wasn't what I hoped for. Luckily I was able to change my room to a far better one with great views. The staff was really accommodating with that. Now, Riu Republica is in fact a party resort, there is a lot to do, to keep you active. Plenty of drinks to go around and trust me, those drinks will creep on you before you know it. The staff were okay, but some of them looked really annoyed if you ask them for something. The restaurants were pretty bland, but I found Kulinarium to be one of the better ones. Their breakfast and the jerk chicken spot were also top teir in terms of quick free food. We also had a night where there was no water for a couple of hours and everyone had to use bottled water to shower, flush toilets and whatnot. Overall, despite their flaws, It is still a fun resort to be at. Just know that you sort of get what you paid for since it is a cheaper option."
