"A superb property that punches well above its price point. The hotel has a beautiful and high quality interior and exterior design. The rooms in particular are fantastic, combining highly aesthetic Japanese design influences with comfort and usability. The general quality of the materials used through is high. The staff are another highlight, clearly well trained, helpful and friendly. A delight to deal with. We very much enjoyed the breakfast offering each day, as well as the access to the executive lounge. The availability of parking on site was also very helpful during our stay. Two small suggestions for improvements would be: 1. An alternative solution for the temporary storage of guest luggage awaiting onward transfer. This is held in the lobby and diminished the stylish space somewhat. 2. The main breakfast area is very busy at peak times. Perhaps the layout of food items could be updated to reduce bottlenecks. For example, the coffee, juice and bakery stations, which tend to be the most heavily used, are all located next to one another. We were fortunate to have access to breakfast at the executive lounge. This was a much quieter and relaxing experience. The quality of the executive / suite level amenities is high and well worth considering. Overall a 10/10 property though. This was our second stay and we will definitely return. "

"This was our favorite accommodation in Japan. The staff were all very accommodating, kind and polite. So many thoughtful amenities such as combs, hair ties, popsicles coffee and matcha throughout different times of the day. The female onsen has about 6 different pools with different temperatures. You do have to be naked for the onsen but since it’s separated by gender the shyness goes away quickly. Definitely opt in for the breakfast, it has an extensive spread of options for food and drinks! It remains relatively the same each day (we stayed for 4 days) but varies slightly. I’m sure you will find something you like! Our whole group said this hotel was their favorite because of how fun and different it is but the late night soba and popsicles were such a delight. My niece lost her Invisalign scrunched up in tissue at breakfast, the staff went above and beyond and went through the garbage to find it for her. Talk about service!!! Definitely stay here and enjoy an onsen hotel. It’s centrally located about 6 mins walk to the Kyoto train station and short walk to restaurants and underground shopping/restaurants. "

"We had a great stay. It was near the shopping areas as well as the traditional district Gion. The rooms were comfortable and modern with a bakery and restaurant on the premises. We would definitely stay here again when in Kyoto."

"OK, the room is small, so family of 3, very challenging navigate around the room, but most hotel rooms are small in Japan, so not complain about it, but wish a bit bigger room would be nice. Other than, everything was very nice, exceptional location, and hotel staff very nice and attentive, located in quite street, and tons of restaurants close by (but be warn that they are a bit pricy and some even overpriced), and having breakfast in hotel is a big plus, good variety of breakfast options, of course, you are ok to eat fish appetizers in the morning, you are in luck. I can easily recommend this hotel!"

"Hotel is in a great central location! Close by to Pontocho, Gion and train station. The canal next to the hotel was so beautiful with cherry blossoms and willow trees. Comfy beds and cozy rooms. The breakfast buffet was good also. Note that the hotel's restaurant closes by 3 pm. Would definitely recommend this hotel!"

"This is a very special hotel. It’s walking distance to Heian shrine. Lots of good hiking spots near by. The food selection is a little sparse, but there are some good spots near by. The room was very large and we got a view of a cherry tree from our room. Joshua from the staff was very nice and set us up for a great trip."

"The staff were GREAT! The rooms were excellent…the beds are sooooo comfortable. Great views. Rooms were made up every day, fresh linens and towels, etc. Location was great. Overall great experience! Will return. "
