We stayed at Sadachiyo ryokan on our last night in Japan/Tokyo. It was actually the best experience we had during our vacation in Japan. The breakfast was really good. The staff hospitality was the best we experienced. We highly recommend Sadachiyo ryokan to experience top-notch hospitality and traditional Japanese hotel.
This place is amazing! I went with 3 friends in August and kept kicking myself for not writing a review sooner. I think it's a testament to how great a time my friends and I had that I still decided it was worth it 4 months later.
The location is great, it's right by this enclosed street full of shops and is very near to public transit which can get you anywhere around Tokyo. The rooms were very clean and had a very classic Japanese style, at least in my mind. Lastlly, the staff were amazing. They were always smiling and saying hello as you'd pass them going in and out of the building. Can't give them enough credit for making the stay so comfortable

First of all, I should say that the staff were fantastic - very friendly and helpful. There is a beautiful salon on the main floor, a bathhouse on premise, a cute historical vibe, and a great location in Asakusa. This property has a lot going for it!
It has some serious flaws, though:
1. It has a midnight strict curfew. We did not realize this when booking, and it was a big turn-off, especially since the property is a in a city that never sleeps and is known for night life. This put a big damper on our experience.
2. There is only one option for a bed: a thin futon mattress on the floor. We managed to make it work, but it was not comfortable. I realize that this goes along with the historical theme, but management might consider putting something softer underneath the futon space for modern visitors.
3. My wife and I both developed rashes and got bug bites while we were there. I'm not sure what the culprit was, but I suspect it was those futon mattresses and something living in there. Not good.
4. The walls are thin, and there was major construction going on outside with a ton of loud noise, preventing decent sleep. Not entirely the hotel's fault, but it impacts the stay of visitors so I'm sharing it for visibility.
5. There is no shower, just a drain in the bathroom floor and a handheld device. Water gets everywhere.
6. The nearest public transit is an express line, not a subway line, which is inconvenient
In sum, while the place was cute, I would not book again.

The staff are an absolute delight.. they are so nice and helpful..they just need to repaint some of the old white walls in the room and the hotel will be perfect for a full japanese room experience..i recommend staying here.
I chose to book this ryokan for my last night in Japan. It was my first ryokan experience. I loved it! The staff was very friendly and made me feel « at home ». The supper and breakfast were excellent. I really recommend getting the « half board ».
Stay was great. Great service from the start. Explanations of the different amenities explained as well as given in a packet in english. Even the air conditioner and TV remote were diagrammed. The one thing that wasn't diagrammed was the bidet toilet. I wish i had booked another night there to tried both bath types. please note that this is a traditional style beds so everything is on the ground. including all seating. most spacious room i had in my trip to tokyo. Wifi was a little spotty but the surrounding neighborhood has so many good places to eat.
The property was beautiful and clean. The hotel had lovely traditional furnishings. Staff were very helpful and provided great service. We loved the ceremonies of our stay in using the public baths, dinner, breakfast. Would highly recommend this ryokan experience and hotel.

Bon emplacement, confortable et bains bien sympathiques.
Japanese style hotel located in a great area with lots of shopping and dining options. Sleep on futons, no beds. Men’s and women’s onsens in hotel. Staff very friendly and speak English good.
We cancelled upon arrival due to insalubrity issues. The rooms were dirty and filthy (brown marks on the wall), the floor was sticky and humid. The entrance smelled of cigarette smoke. The staff only agreed to refund one of the 2 nights. We had to book another hotel on the spot, so quite a horrible experience at that place.
