The Fullerton Hotel Singapore
10/10 Excellent
"Great hotel and great location. Our room was 212, and the view was disappointing as there was none. Other than that it was a really nice hotel and a great breakfast buffet. The reception folks were super nice, and even the bell boys. So no complaints."

"A wannabe 5-star hotel. I booked this hotel as a number of events were held at the Singapore Cricket Club, which was a short walk from the hotel. The hotel is well maintained, in a good position - across from Funan Centre with its beautiful restaurants and modern food courts. My check in reception is at level 3, right next to the breakfast room. It is a high traffic area during the morning rush. While the breakfast offering is adequate, it was not a 5-star breakfast offering. No egg station. Only pre-fried eggs. The breakfast room was more a canteen. No ambience for guests to have a relaxing linger longer breakfast for that second cup of coffee. And the hotel lobby at level 1 was too small to handle groups of departing guests. They mingled next to the door while waiting for their rides. I had to push my way through the crowd just to get out of the hotel in the morning. Would be good if the concierge can usher them to the other end of the area to ensure access to the doorway is not blocked. On a positive note, the hotel is located towards the end of Colman Street and a short 8 minutes' walk to the lively Clarke Quay prescient. And its only 5 minutes' walk to City Hall MRT station."

"One of the pools was under renovation, which we did not know at the time of booking. Check-in was fast. We went up to our room and waited for our luggage to be delivered. It turns out we had to go back outside to tell the bellhop where to take our belongings. All other places we've stayed (even 3 star hotels) our things were brought to our room without us having to find another employee and tell them ourselves. Rooms are very small. We had a lot of things because we were on the last leg of a 10-day trip, plus a car seat and stroller, and baby cot. Room service is an option, but we did not know where the menu was. We learned later it is on the television. I gave feedback on check-in, and we were contacted by the guest services manager who moved us to a delux family room, which really is just 2 connecting rooms. Breakfast was not included. We paid for breakfast seperately in advance for 3 days and only used 2. Front desk made it sound like we had to choose to pay for all three days up front and did not mention if we had the option to just pay each morning if we wanted. We has breakfast at a restaurant nearby for one mornings, and took the loss. Great location and amenities but far from a 4-star hotel service experience. Airport transportation was $70, so as you can imagine, we did not use it. It very much felt like a 3 star hotel because of the size of the rooms and the front desk staff."

"Great hotel to stay while visiting Singapore! Especially for a couple. Very clean, organized and wonderful staff. The restaurant is very good, the buffet breakfast is amazing. Location is convenient to all the attractions, only short taxi service to most all locations. Will definitely be our first choice when returning to visit Singapore."

"Stayed just one night during a 19 hour layover. Con isn’t location in the airport and a quick cab ride to explore different parts of the city. Room was very well appointed. Loved being able to take a long bath after a long travel day. Bed was very comfy - perfect night’s sleep. The reception staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Will absolutely stay again when in Singapore next!"

Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, Singapore

"Check in, room not ready, said an issue with the aircon and would text me in 20mins when room ready. Offered complimentary buffet to make up for it. 20mins later, no text. I go to the desk to follow up, the man just puts two cards in front of me, no sorry, no nothing. We needed to nap our 2yo and not having our room ready until 5:45pm was extremely frustrating. I emailed twice in the months before to request a cot in our room. Both times it was confirmed. Arrive to the room, no cot. We called twice for the cot, nothing - I had to go to the desk to ask for it again. Didn’t get a cot until 9pm. Complimentary dinner - I tried to confirm a time 3 times, 2 times in-person another time by email - no one could confirm. I get a call just before our requested time when already made plans elsewhere as we didn’t want to risk coming back to Sentosa if there wasn’t a confirmed booking. For breakfast included, the 1st time we attempted to attend, we were told it was full and sent to an overflow buffet which didn’t have as many options. The other 2 days had the same too full issue so went elsewhere. Checkout, asked for help to get 7 luggage bags down on a trolley. The hotel staff asked if we prebooked a trolley. Said it would be 30min wait for a trolley at 230pm. Had a car booked so we had to lug our own bags to the lift and wrangle kids down the long corridor to get to level 5 without help. All round, it seemed everything was too hard and we weren’t valued guests whose time mattered."
