Great trip. The rooms were nice. Staff keeps everything stocked. Paulo at the pool is awesome.
Only complaint—-many restaurants, bars, and activities are in doors. The pool closes early. Not a lot of night life. No live music or entertainment.
Very clean hotel with kind and professional staff. Overall, it offers a high-quality experience and attracts a classy clientele. The atmosphere is calm, yet there are plenty of entertainment options. The only downside is that events like seminars or weddings are sometimes held in shared areas, which can be a bit disruptive and briefly affect service quality.
I recommend separating events like seminars from guest areas to avoid disturbance.
The resort was fantastic. It was clean, new and had a beautiful design. Pools were great. Restaurants and buffet was really good. The only drawback was the beach. Not the resort fault, but there was too much seaweed that we couldn't swim.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Poolside seating was way too crowded and if you wanted a secure seating you had to pay. Staff was good but very short handed.
The property had nice options for kids, but most attractions cost additional money. It was difficult to get into some of the restaurants at a decent time with kids (most reservations were at 9 pm or later). Additionally, check in was poorly managed. We were taken to a separate section where it was guaranteed to be "quicker" but it took almost half an hour to get our rooms and wristbands, which was stressful with 2 young kids.
Huge resort. A lot of walking to amenities and restaurants.make sure to have comfortable footwear. Food quality excellent. Book reservations in advance if possible. Lots of chairs/lingers at the pool. Bali beds helpful. Beach is ok but water not the bluest in Cancun. Check-in quick and easy. Room is ok. Bathroom muggy. No fan. View from all rooms amazing. Kid area to south an adult area to north. No shortage of food and drinks everywhere. Avoid timeshare presentation..wasted day. Overall fantastic resort.
A lot of great things to say about this resort.
Rooms: First, the resort is all ocean front and all rooms are ocean facing as well. We got the F& F deck and as a family of 4 was perfect bc there is a small room in the front where the kids each had a twin bed and their own tv
Pool: same, bc of the way the resort is laid out lots of places to be by the pool, saltwater pool is a bonus and plenty of space and place to hangout poolside.
We have stayed at several all inclusive resorts in the Cancun area. We are a family with elementary aged kids that like activities. We were excited to visit Ava. We loved the room. It was kept very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food at every restaurant was good and the drinks were also very good. The staff was attentive and fairly quick, everywhere. We also liked the unique activities, like “minute to win it” at digit bar, water aerobics, the obstacle course in the main pool, and many others. We were disappointed that we had to pay extra for some of the activities, like bowling, the arcade and laser tag but we tried them and we really enjoyed them.
The biggest disappointment was for our girls because the kids club was not what we were expecting. The schedule was not flexible and had the kids outside all morning. It seems fine, but did not allow a break from the sun for the kids. They were not permitted to choose activities like past resorts. You either did what was on the schedule or not. Their trampolines were broken during our entire 6 day stay. And there were no toys to play with, just the indoor playground. They did enjoy the art class each day. But that was for one hour and we had to wake up early to sign up for it. The hardest part for parents is the 2 hour “family hour” everyday. It is supposed to be a time for families to come in and play with their kids. But in reality, no one wants to sit and watch their kids play at a kids club. It was empty.
We stayed at AVA Resort Cancun and unfortunately our experience was disappointing, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars.
The restaurant food quality was very poor — about 2/5. Many meals lacked flavor and consistency, which was surprising for a resort marketed as luxury.
Our trip also started off difficult because our daughter had a high fever (104°F) during the first couple of days. At one point she asked for an apple, so we called room service and explained the situation. Even after telling them she was sick, it took over an hour to receive a single apple.
We were also approached about attending a sales presentation to buy into the resort membership. We initially declined, but later agreed after being offered incentives like a free cabana, massages, and discounts on activities. However, the process was very pressured and involved being passed between multiple staff members for most of the morning. Even after explaining our daughter was sick and saying no several times, they kept pushing and suggested service would be better if we purchased the membership.
Another concerning moment was finding a spider in a premade salad. When we told a staff member, she simply placed the salad back in the fridge without apologizing.
The kids club is also limited, only allowing children 4+ and offering few options for younger kids at inconvenient times.
The property is beautiful, but the service and food quality did not meet five-star expectations. Unfortunately, we would not return.
The receptionists' service leaves nothing to be desired; they answer rudely and are unhelpful. The food is repetitive and very expensive for the service.
