Could be so much better!!

Posted 3 May 2019 on Hotels
I hope someone from the hotel reads this review because with a few simple changes it could be a hidden gem! The information on this site about the hotel is inaccurate. The use of the pool/spa is not free and in a total seperate building - you require swim hats and is not ideal for children. It is a nice spa with luxourious facilities. The restaurant is open from 8.30pm so again not ideal for kids. We were shown a basic menu for €9 but asked for the full menu which is individually priced and my meal was delicious - do not assume people want a cheap menu! Breakfast was a buffet - plenty of choice. The service from all was very slow and all staff seemed inexperienced. Our room had a stunning view and huge bed. Please provide more accurate information when booking and upon check in. Train your staff. Do these simple things and you could have a 5 star hotel.

Having been to several Spar Hotels the Balneario fell well short. The room was nice however the lack of general facilities was most noticeable. There restaurant is in another building which you walk to on an unlit raod. The menu was very poor as was the food. Overall not a good experience as everything was an extra. 150€ per night?????

Secluded inland spain

A very relaxing one night break. The only problem was locating the spa area where our rooms were which was not in the main hotel. The spa was in a big glass and concrete building. Room excellent with wonderful lake views. The meal in the restaurant at night was only average, but adequate, most of the staff spoke some English and all of them were very helpful.

Zújar Lake View

Overnight stay as a break from the cities. Very remote. Countryside beyond the lake is "lunar landscape". Lake is very pretty. Hotel is quite unique. Staff very helpful.

Has to be seen to be believed!!

This trip was a Valentine's present for my SO. In the most beautiful setting possible, on the lake with snow-capped mountain views and not a building in sight!! The facilities are MORE than the 3 stars this hotel has and the staff are helpful and pleasant and actually pleased to have you there!! The set menu could be better but not by price, but there is a very good a la carte menu too. The proximity to the Balneario itself is a joy and worth every penny. The most relaxing fabulous place to getaway from everything but still connected by free wifi!!

Lovely hotel in great location but a bit isolated

Posted 16 Oct 2014 on Hotels
If I stumbled across this hotel I wouldn't believe that I could afford to stay there. It's in a stunning location on the shore of Lake Negratin and the hotel doesn't disappoint. Our large room (12) was beautifully decorated and furnished with a huge bed! The bathroom was very clean and modern with a large shower (no bath). We ate breakfast (buffet) and dinner (set menu or a la carte options) in the lovely dining room as there are no other restaurants nearby apart from at the thermal baths. Zujar is about 7km away (down an unlit, gravel road) but the best alternative would be Baza about 20kms. This hotel is very isolated but perfect for relaxing away from it all with a pool, terraces, gardens and a library. There is also a SPA next to the hotel but there are extra charges for this and we did not try it. We walked up to the summit of Jabalcon (1492m) from Zujar, which rewarded us with stunning views of the lake and whole area for miles around! The only negatives were noise during the day from building work in the grounds and room next door but repairs have to done sometime. Note that the hotel is actually called Alcanacia, follow signs for Thermal Baths and Spa Balneario from Zujar. We would definitely return when visiting the area and highly recommend it to you.

We love this hotel

Posted 12 Oct 2014
Pros: The rooms are all individual. The views from hotel are fantastic. Reception staff are marvellous.
Cons: Slight problems with water and plumbing.
Location: Location is fabulous with very little to do close by but for a short stay it is not needed.
This was our second visit to this hotel and we love it. We took our daughter and they loved it as well. The views are to die for. Also tried the spa this time and it was excellent.

Hotel has wonderful position overlooking the lake

Posted 13 Sep 2014
Pros: Views of the lake and sitting on the terrace with a drink in the evening.
Cons: No hair dryer. Drainage in bathroom not good and smelt.
Location: Location is fabulous.
Reception staff are wonderful. Paid a little more for a lake facing room and well worth it, views are stunning. Very enjoyable.

Calm Karma

Absolutely wonderful one night's stay in this lovely boutique hotel off the beaten track. A comfortable, clean room with a stunning view of the lake made for a relaxing break, and well presented food exceeded our expectations. The pool tiles need some attention but that was the only fault we could find. Special thanks to Pilar in reception and Arturo in the restaurant who both speak English to help overcome our lack of Spanish.
