Beautiful period properly in York
Posted 28 Feb 2024 on HotelsLovely house, beautifully decorated with nice period and artistic touches. Comfortable en-suite room, plumbing a bit Victorian so needed a lot of effort to flush! No on-site presence at night, breakfast order to be made the night before, cash payment preferred. Quite pricey for B&B.

The b&b is nice, little off the main area of downtown but not that far. Good breakfast. The room also good not that small with windows! The only complaint is the lady that runs the place I think, she checks you in and does breakfast and all, when we arrived she was gentle, she leaves at 4 and there’s no one after that, but on our check out she wouldn’t let us do it later than 10:30 majority of places do it at 12 or at least 11 am, the couple next to us in breakfast ask the same and she said no problem leave at 1 pm but not us. We left our luggage and went back later to pick it up and she was very rude, almost like making us a favor to use the bathroom wich was in the basement. Anyway no customer service at all. We will prefer to stay somewhere else next time, closer to everything and with more caring service.

An old property with some of the period features still intact. A quirky property in a quiet area, convenient for the city centre.
We chose to travel by train because we were uncertain about the parking arrangements. We discovered that parking is very limited and comes at a cost.
Overall the accommodation was good, clean and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.
