A Chance to Stay in a Castle
Posted 11 May 2017 on HotelsThe castle and grounds are lovely. The room was comfortable. No elevator, but the check-in people carried our luggage upstairs. The hotel made a reservation for dinner at a nearby restaurant.

Hidden Gem
Posted 24 Sep 2014Booked this at the last minute. Didn't know what to expect.
Got a very pleasant suprise when we arrived.
It is superb. Our room could only be described as luxurious.
The welcome was even more so, even though it was a busy time.
The best advice I can give is: Have the breakfast. You will not regret it (unless you are on a diet).
The restaurant is closed on Mondays, so we can't comment on that.
Excellent food is available in Ginkel though. Try "De Imperator".

Great hotel, very nice staff
Posted 8 Sep 2014 on HotelsWe had a very nice stay at this hotel. Everything was very good. A little disappointed by the bathroom as the shower over the bath cord was too small to stand up straight under it and there was no curtain/long glass to avoid splashing the whole bathroom while showering, only a very small piece of glass.

Something 'different' & very attractive

Pros: Beautiful location, lovely rooms, friendly people - and very tasty breakfasts.
Cons: Nothing !
Location: Very well placed with good roads for visiting far & wide - Maastricht is a beautiful town & is well worth a visit.
Very friendly welcome with a free drink (!), a beautiful hotel (old & historical) - made a very nice change from the usual 'chain' type. Has 12 rooms so nice and intimate.
It should be noted that the Dutch eat 'early' in the evenings - and most restaurants in the area (inc. the Hotel) are closed Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings - due to the low population and corresponding lack of demand. That isn't a bad thing !

everything was perfect
Posted 7 Oct 2013 on Hotelsfrom the first peek of the castle as we pulled in the gate we were thrilled! The gardens are lovely, you walk in and know you made a great choice. The Owner, Sylvie, greets you with your choice of beverage. There is nor rush, and then you are escorted to your rooms.....all named after month of the year. The "kasteel' has been renovated very nicely. The rooms are modern and comfortable with very nice amenities. (They could use more pillos....but we found them ourselves in the wardrobes outside the room, as we didn't want to disturb the 'front desk' at night) Dinner was delicious, two had the prix fixe menu which included an exquisite cherry and ice cream dessert. All 4 of us started with a superb mushroom soup, and all tried different main courses - none of them disappointed. The breakfast in the morning was beautifully presented and we were served by an excellent waiter.....and sadly can't recall his first name. It was only his second day but he was a total professional with an excellent manner and sense of humour! Ronald and Sylvie , the Owners, were most hospitable. We will certainly return next time we have guests visiting from the States!

Beautiful Castle!!!
Posted 8 Aug 2013We fell in love with this Hotel in a Castle! Beautiful rooms and beautiful gardens. The service was impeccable with a gourmet breakfast in the morning. A little tough to find unless you have a GPS to navigate you there however. We would recommend Kasteel Whittem to all of our family and friends. I hope I have the opportunity to return one day.

Fantastic stay!

Pros: Very relaxing!
Cons: Nothing. We loved our stay.
Location: Located in a small village. We drove to Gulpen for dinner.
Wonderful hotel. We stopped in only for one night and wish we could have stayed longer. Unlike other reviews, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and clean. We were given complimentary wine and water upon arrival. Plenty of parking. Would definitely stay again!
