Several things to report on negatively unfortunately. The room was very hot so needed the window open all night however, it faced the A40 which is a very busy road. The toilet had "marks" in it - it hadn't been cleaned properly. The pillow cases had stains on them. There was no iron in the room and no one to contact to ask for one. Amazingly, the venue wasn't able to offer breakfast - this is astonishing considering that it is a pub. This was not advertised when I booked - if I had known, I would have booked somewhere else. In the pub downstairs, I wanted to have a drink however, there were empty glasses and rubbish everywhere on every empty table. There was no effort by the staff - I had to ask about breakfast and there was no mention about food in the evening and finally, the next morning, there were no staff anywhere to be found to check out. I had to just leave the room key on the bar and unlock the door to the pub to let myself out.

Thank you for taking the time to review The Evenlode, I'm sorry that you didn't have a great experience. If i may answer your point in turn.1) I'm sorry that you found the room to be to hot, the heating controls are in the rooms, this is so you are able to modify the heat at your leisure, there is a heating control next to both radiators, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom.2) We do have irons available, I'm sorry you couldn't find anyone to ask for one, we had 8 staff on did you mention your need for an iron when you asked the server about breakfast? 3) I'm sorry you were astonished and amazed at our lack of breakfast, We do make it very clear that we are room only throughout the booking process, it is also confirmed on your booking confirmation which was emailed to you when you completed your online booking.4) Thank you for bring the issue of cleanliness of the toilet I will let housekeeping know and ask them to be more diligent in future.5) I'm sorry if you weren't informed about the dining options, the very large restaurant is alongside the bar and the hotel reception area where you checked in, with menus etc on the tables and chalkboards, you would of also have passed the notices inviting you do dine throughout the bar, I'm sorry you didn't see these I will ensure they remain strategically placed. you could probably tell that we had been extremely busy during the early evening, it does sometimes take some time to recover the space and reset, I'm sorry about that6) We do not have staff onsite overnight, but the fact that you were able to leave your key on the bar would indicate that staff were on site, as this area is locked up and made secure over night and only opened when the staff arrive. I was onsite that morning along with my housekeeper, as you can imagine there are tasks that take us away from the area where guests pass through when leaving, I'm sorry we missed you.Kind regards

Booked one night for my birthday. I saw the clip board with this information on. No one wished me a happy birthday. No mention of it, staff said “oh we were wondering where you were” as a greeting ……we were 20 minutes early! Very slow to serve. Had to ask for bill three times. Burger has very poor. Very dry and over cooked. Very slow to offer drink. Partner Has to ask three times for a beer. A very sad experience for a birthday treat. Disappointed.

Make sure you’re aware, Breakfast isn’t served.

Breakfast isn’t available. For the price paid that’s a big issue. Quiet once the traffic dies down. Lovely building and good beers.

Lovely staff bit noisy at night with traffic on the A40 but that was to be expected. Food In restaurant excellent overall very enjoyable stay
