Friendly, welcoming staff. Good location with both Windermere and Bowness within easy walking distance. Plenty of lovely shops and restaurants in Bowness. Definately worth booking.

Good location
Posted 17 Aug 2021 on HotelsOverall I’d probably stay there again, the location was good and the receptionist was lovely. My only criticism was that the bathroom needed a refurbishment, it felt like it had just been given a lick of paint to try and modernise it but you could still see the mould on the windows under the coat of paint and was in need of a new shower. Loved the tea tray and the cookies and the breakfast was lovely. I had read on another review that the walls are paper thin, I would have disagreed with that until a room by us got up at 5am and I could here every word they said ( not a problem if your not a light sleeper).

It was a shame that they were not doing evening dining due to a shortage of staff. It would have made an impact on our choice if we had known that before booking.
It was the first Hotel that we have been too where there was no shelf/ledge around the wash hand basin in the bathroom. Our toilet bag was rested on the w/c cistern??
Not very hygienic I know but where to put it.
The breakfast was adequate,

Not a £200 a night hotel
Posted 15 Aug 2021 on HotelsOur stay was okay, the position of the hotel was great and the view from the room on the top floor was fantastic. The room was clean but the bathroom especially the shower and grout around the tiles were black and mouldy, they had never seen bleach in years.
Our first morning breakfast was great, good choice, average portions and our cooked breakfast was delivered within 10 minutes. The second mornings breakfast was awful, 20 minutes to get served/take our order then a further 40 minutes to get it delivered to our table only after asking. They were busy and did apologise but when you are paying over £200 a night, I would expect better. Overall it was an ok hotel for maybe £50-£70 a night, the staff were friendly but with the cleanliness issues and our personal experience of the breakfast service I wouldnt recommend it for the price they are charging.

An old building possiby listed so there are a lot of stairs to the rooms. There are lovely views across the gardens from the restaurant. It's about 1/2 mile walk into the town centre where there is everything you need.

The hotel has nice views to the rear scenery towards the lake. The bedroom seemed to have been refurbished during the last years. However, they forgot to refurbish the bathrooms as well.
The walls are extremely thin and the sound insulation is very poor. You will hear people passing by on the corridor and also when your neighbour is having a shower. The fan in the bathroom is very loud and it hadn't been cleaned in months.
The staff are very friendly.
The breakfast is quite average.
There is no lift, no disabled access either.
We went here as everything else was fully booked, it was so overpriced for what you get in return.
However the location is great.
