Clean, spacious room with amazing view up the street and Werningerode Schloss so very close upon the hill. V good breakfast and a lovely small sauna you can reserve a time for private use. We appreciated a break from the larger city hotels in Hamburg and Berlin to stay in a small cozy bnb style environment. You can step right out the door to shopping and food. The staff was v sweet and we wished we had more time here. Highly recommend!

Good budget hotel

Friendly, family-run hotel

Pros: The staff and the convenient location
Cons: A little road noise
This was a really friendly family-run hotel well-situated for the castle and town centre in Wernigerode and close to plenty of good bars and restaurants.
The hotel contacted me in advance to ask if I wanted to pre-book parking (€4.50) and breakfast (€8) as the Expedia rate was room-only. I would definitely advise pre-booking parking if you are arriving with a car as the guest car park is small. The breakfast was good and a typical German continental breakfast - plenty of fresh rolls with cold meats and cheeses etc.
The hotel has free wi-fi which worked well.
Note the rooms are not air-conditioned and the front of the hotel is next to a road junction so bring ear plugs if you're travelling in the summer and need the windows open.

Posted 29 Nov 2012 on HotelsNo one there at check in,rooms small and basic.got charged 8 euros for breakfast but never requested it.Very unfriendly old woman at check out refused to take a credit card despite having the sign in the window.Terrible service.Only nice person was the blond cleaning girl who eventually let us enter the hotel to check in.avoid !
