This was my third time staying at Stoberry, and I hope to be back again. The welcome is always warm, the rooms comfortable, the breakfast delicious and the setting absolutely stunning, with picturesque gardens and incredible views of Wells and the surrounding area. This year was of course slightly different due to the COVID-19 restrictions, but it was still an absolute pleasure to stay and Frances, Tim, Wendy and everyone else went out of their way to make us feel at ease and welcome. I cannot recommend highly enough .

Charming stay in Wells
Posted 4 Oct 2019 on HotelsThe place was simply charming and lovely. The room was comfortable, the breakfast fantastic, the gardens immaculate and interesting, and the view over Wells was stunning.
The only things for others to be aware of beforehand are that the shower is a bit small, due to them being later additions to older rooms and that the property is a little hard to find. The showers work fine and weren’t really a bother to me, but it did surprise me a bit. When I called and indicated I was having trouble finding the place, the host not only kindly instructed me, but also came and picked me up, as I was walking and it started to rain. Very nice. And he also told me there is better information about where they are located if you go to their own website.
I loved my stay here and will come back again if I return to Wells.

The knowledge of the staff ensuring that you would enjoy your stay. This setting is unique. You can wander the gardens and feel a sense of well being delighting in the views and ambiance.

Spectacular!!!

We were given a wonderfully warm welcome by the owners and provided with all the information required on the property, grounds and surrounding area to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The welcome pack is informative and an interesting read. The room was spotless, spacious, wonderfully decorated and equipped with everything we needed and more. The location of the property is nothing short of spectacular. With sprawling views taking in the stunning Somerset countryside, Wells cathedral and the Glastonbury torr to name but a few. Wells is only a short walk away and offers plenty to do, see, eat and drink. The gardens within the grounds are absolutely beautiful and well worth a walk around, they have even inspired us to do more with our own garden. We didn’t make breakfast, largely due to the bed being so comfortable but I’m sure just like everything else at Stoberry it would have been perfect.the WiFi signal is good as was our phone coverage (Vodafone). I will not hesitate to stay at Stoberry again and very much look forward to our next visit.

Lovely house and gardens
Posted 24 Jun 2019 on HotelsFantastic house and gardens and loved the drive up to the house passed all the sheep and lambs. The staff and the owner were so welcoming. We started our day with wine and cake which was a lovely touch and sat in the garden. Beds turned back, pillow spray a mini torch, added to the stay being perfect. The breakfast was great too. A lot of care and attention and a bit different was the food, such a choice of preserves, breads and cheeses and meats.

Stunning Views
Posted 4 Jun 2019 on HotelsThe house is beautiful and the gardens are stunning. Despite its close proximity to Wells Cathedral (0.8 mi), the walk is up a very steep hill. I walked it once, would not recommend the walk but the view is stunning. Definitely be prepared to ask for rides- the owner and staff are happy to give them, or pay for a taxi. The rooms are small but cozy and have beautiful views of the surrounding gardens and countryside. The rooms lock with actual skeleton keys which is really cool and unique. The staff and owners are very friendly and gracious hosts who very obviously love what they do and mingle regularly with the guests to make sure everyone is happy and comfortable. The breakfast spread is amazing and each room has its own shared kitchen. My only complaints were the WiFi was a little unreliable (and they were working on fixing it!) and the water pressure in my room gave me issues flushing the toilet but other than that, I really enjoyed staying here and the three days I spent in Wells were probably my favorite part of my entire trip.

Beautiful Gatehouse Retreat
Posted 5 May 2019 on HotelsWe chose Stoberry House for its privacy and its proximity to the city centre of Wells, the facilities were second to none and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The gatehouse was very private and very well appointed with our own garden to enjoy the amazing views of this beautiful city and Glastonbury Tor as a backdrop, we will certainly return here
