Has potential but was a bit disappointing

Posted 10 Oct 2017
Pros: Location was in small quaint town
Cons: Room floor and ammenities
Location: sight seeing
We went in off-season so the place was quiet and in a lovely location; a small quaint town. The room was large, however, the floor had a very loud creak when you walked across it. Not just small creak, very loud so that I was worried I'd wake my son or the people downstairs when I got up at night. There was no hair dryer in the room and I would have to go find the proprietor to get one so I didn't bother (no phone). No shampoo or lotion either. This would all be okay if it was a cheaper rate. It ended up being the most expensive room on our trip. The price should have been half of what it was to make it a reasonable stay. I felt that the proprietor was unnecessarily rude in the morning at check out. In my other Expedia bookings the room was paid through my booking credit card by Expedia. The proprietor loudly said it had not been paid and they do not accept credit cards. I understand that this is her policy and I was checking my phone for my itinerary to confirm that I had not already been charged but as I was checking she kept saying "NO, No, No" really loud and pointing to the apparent "No Credit Cards" sign. It was in German and I don't speak German so could not read it. I found the information on my itinerary and paid her but felt the situation could have been handled more professionally.

Great little in near Trier

Posted 8 Jul 2013
Pros: Spacious rooms; clean; clean bathrooms; friendly staff; nice fan for keeping cool during warm summer nights.
Cons: Could use a mini-bar, especially for late night travelers that could use a drink/or snack before bed.
Location: Trier is located only 10 minutes away.
We really enjoyed the Landgasthof Simon Hotel and wish we had more time to spend there. Unfortunately we had trouble navigating the German highways and ended up arriving very late to the hotel. The room was very spacious, very clean, comfortable and had a great country feel to it. We had a very nice breakfast the following morning and were on the road again. It was a short stay for us and I really would have loved to venture around the town of Waldrach as it seemed like a very nice little town to explore. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room was okay and clean, but that's about it.

We found this a fairly odd experience. The room was okay but the place itself could have done with some tlc. Breakfast selection was limited. On the plus side, wifi was free and simple to access. There is no proper reception so communication with staff is limited. We were very surprised that payment for our three night stay was required in cash when we left! Not something we have ever come across before in our travels, and unexpected when we had booked with a credit card. Watch out for that.

We arrived in Germany and this was our first hotel here...and I was blown away by how at home we felt. The owner was friendly, spoke enough English to make up for my broken German and was laid back enough to put us at ease. The beds were comfortable (altho there was a split mattress situation...haha) and the bathrooms were enough for our needs (shower, sink and toilet). Our room overlooked at a babbling brook and the town was quaint, with a small backery, trinket shop and church with bells. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a personally owned hotel in Germany :)
