An unfortunate experience. Avoid.

This is an (expensive) B&B NOT a hotel. no food and a car is necessary to the nearest restaurant. No air conditioning. And a wholly inadequate bathroom. And to get in you need to get them to open the gates (best to arrive in daylight). Having lugged my suitcase up the stairs, i lugged it down again and went in search of somewhere cooler that served food.

The staff only speaks French. If you don't speak French you will be stuck with absolutely any questions that you have, so beware of this before booking. Also, we booked a room with 4 beds (clearly noted in our booking) and only got a room with two beds.

A step back in time.

Interesting throw back to s century ago. Nicely maintained manor with authentic hostess. Cats and canaries share the breakfast room. Very little English understood. Good night sleep in quiet countryside.

a relaxing weekend

We had a wonderful time and Madame and her staff couldn't have been nicer. Not sure we would have found it without a GPS as it is in the country. A wonderfully relaxing stay.

A lovely hotel - more like a private house

Posted 12 Sep 2013
Pros: Our bedroom was quite magnificent. The garden or park is enormous. The lady who owned the place was charming and there are lovely walks nearby.
Cons: Nothing in our view!
Location: Auxerre is in the centre of one of the wine areas in Burgundy. The cathedral is lovely and the restaurants there are good.
Our room was literally to die for! An enormous bedroom with a 4 poster bed and a lovely bathroom. It was more like a Wolsey Lodge than a hotel, kept by a charming lady who adores cats! It was very quiet indeed and there were lovely walks in the woods nearby. Breakfast was delicious. Auxerre is the nearest place for dinner which is about 6 miles away. We spent a very happy 24 hrs here.

PARFAIT

Nous avons été surpris en arrivant d'être les seuls clients du manoir. Mais Monique, est une personne très attachante, gentille serviable et qui veut vraiment faire plaisir. Nos échanges ont été très agréables. le petit déjeuner est fait maison et très bon. A recommander

A little corner of paradise

Posted 17 Aug 2017
Cons: For some people, having internet might be important.
Wonderful restored little chateau, full of authentic charm and with and amazing garden, in which rare breed cats, hens, ducks, doves and pheasants stroll peacefully between gorgeous flowers. We stayed in what they call "the flat", but is really a very cute separate little house, with two bedrooms, a very nice bathroom and a kitchenette. Everything is beautifully furnished, decorated and arranged, with lots of antiques, and extremely comfortable. We slept like babies and in the morning had a sumptuous breakfast in the main house's really grand dining room. The owner, Monique, joined us there for a chat. She is a wonderful person who has had a most interest life, and we really enjoyed meeting her. There is no internet in the rooms, which some people might miss, but we actually welcomed that - total relaxation, both physical and mental. I could not recommend it more!
