Fantastic hotel in a quaint little town.

Posted 1 Apr 2017
This place looks like nothing from outside but walk through the door and you are in a courtyard that's out of another world. The food is local and there is plenty of it. Also there is a spar that I didn't use but it sounded great.

Excellent hotel

Very nice hotel in a relatively drab town. It was a good stop as we were jet lagged and needed a rest from driving between Madrid and the North of Spain. Nice restaurant.

Great small town hotel.

Posted 2 Dec 2015
Location: The town of Villalpando is very small. We were able to hit all the local attractions in an hour.
Wonderful hospitality. The older man in charge did not speak English, but did his best to accommodate us. The younger staff was able to step in and help out. Did not get a chance to use the Spa facilities, but the grounds are beautiful.

Nice stop over hotel.

Nice and comfortable hotel. Free secure parking and wifi. Good for a short stopover but not a lot to do in the surrounding area. Restaurant food very basic but reasonably priced.

Quiet,atmospheric,local styling,tricky to find.

Posted 3 Aug 2014
Pros: Everything. Very friendly small staff. Good sized rooms with character.
Cons: Directions, but because of local street layout , it isn't easy, and there is not much English spoken, .
Location: It is tucked away in the middle of this old town, with lots of one way steets that confuses Satnav. We only used as an overnight en route to Gijon.
Having eventually found the hotel , it proved well worth the effort. Tucked away in the old town, the hotel is old local styling, looks recently remodelled with lots of character. Now very clean , and well maintained jewel ,at a very modest price.

Don't miss this hotel!

We wondered if we were right to book this hotel when we pull up at the front door but on entering it is a virtual tardis. It would be a lovely place to explore the very historic area of Spain. Even the village wrapped around this hotel has some amazing history worth exploring. It would be useful to have some knowledge of the spanish language or a good phrase book when visiting the area. The waitress brought her daughter, an English degree student, in to explain the menu to us. This is a first class hotel that I could find no fault with.

Excellent hotel in the historic town Villalpando

Posted 3 Jul 2013
Pros: It has the features of a modern hotel in a historic place, it is very clean, the service is very good and very welcoming, there is a restaurant
Cons: The portions of food are a little big, they may pay a little more attention on the menu, but it was o.k. The room was perfect, no complaints,
Location: The hotel is in the center of the town and it is small town so you can walk everywhere and Villalpando is on the way to Coruna
I traveled from the USA to visit Villalpando. I was welcome by Don Francisco at the reception and made me feel at home instead of a hotel, after so many hours of travel, it was a very nice welcoming. The room was very spacious and with the standards of any major city in the world, we were able to control the room temperature, it was so quiet at night that we relaxed very well. The hotel is a beautiful building that fits in the town very well, medieval style. Villalpando is a museum outdoors with the historic buildings from XII century, we were transported to the past. Do not expect to find a Macdonald's or seven eleven, this is a historic place and it is mean to stay like that. Don Francisco went beyond his means to make our stay worth it and pleasant and gave us suggestions to what to visit around, we enjoyed our visit and we can't wait to go back. We even got a free bottle of wine from the region of Zamora. Every room is decorated in an individual way and you feel your at home and not in a hotel, by far this is one of the best hotels I have stayed at and I have traveled around the worl. Villalpando is so amazing, in one hand it has buildings form the XII century and at the same time they get electricity fro solar panels. I really was impressed with the hotel and town. It is close to Zamora, urena (villa del libro) and it is a place to relax not to party but still be comfortable if you are used to the best hotels be confident this is your hotel.
