Fun, cheap place. Capsules were noisy when getting out. Good price for the area. Good for a short stay.

Interesting space, but needs some life
Posted 19 Jul 2019 on HotelsA very unique place to stay, but can also be a bit disorienting and strange. The capsules are a great idea because you can have privacy and air/temperature control. Their kitchen can be bigger, considering the number of capsules and overall dark atmosphere is a bit creepy - perhaps some TV's would help. The owners are super nice, but there really is not much to do in this town.

Indoor camping
Posted 20 Jun 2019 on HotelsGreat location, perfect for short time stay. Sitting area is very nice and everything is very clean. This is like camping indoor so you can pretty much hear everthing but that was fine by me. The capsule is nice and clean, I got a very good night sleep.

Wonderful little hostel
Posted 1 Jul 2018My fiancé and I recently stayed here for two nights. We weren’t sure what to expect at first, but the hostel exceeded our expectations.
There was only one other person staying there with us, so it was quiet and calm. The pods each had a key card that opened the pod door and the associated locker. There was a TV, mirror, headphones, lighting, a built-in outlet adapter, and two USB ports in each pod. The pillows were a bit flat (but we saw others in other pods that were fluffier) and we had to ask for towels at the front desk, but these negatives were easily overcome by the comfort and privacy of the pods. We could also see how noisy the place could be if there were many people. You can hear everything that goes on in the pods.
There are two private toilets/showers and one men’s room with stalls and open showers. There is also a kitchen with stove, fridge, and microwave, as well as abundant pots, pans, and anything else you may need. The hostel is attached to a guesthouse, and there is a back door to the hostel that can be accessed by key pad. There are also spaces available for parking in front and beside the building.
The place can be difficult to find, but once you find it, it’s hard to miss. You can see the ferry terminal from the hostel door. Look for the Guesthouse Hamar. This is where you will find the reception desk. If you find the hostel door, the front of the building is on the opposite side, so just go around the block.

Pros: -Staff was friendly and helpful
-Common space was quiet
-Pod capsule was clean
-Close to the ferry
Cons: -Locker size is small
-Name on the sign outside says "Hamar" not say "Puffin Nest"
Location: -Hike to Eldfell
-Hike to Helgafell
-Hike to Herjólfsdalur
-See the Eldheimar museum
-See the puffins in Stórhöfði
Had a great time staying at Puffin Nest pod capsules. The pods are large enough for one person comfortably. There is a fan inside to control the temperature if it gets too hot. There's a TV and a USB port. The bed and bathroom were clean. Lockers were a bit small, good for a backpack. Location is 5 mins walking to the ferry. Free parking in front of the building. Really nice and helpful staff.
