This place is very back to nature. They have a mini farm with turkeys and ducks etc. Because it’s a little out of the way they do offer Brkfst and dinner. If you book in advance they reserve dinner. If coming in late, take advantage it was a very nice meal. There is also a time restriction for dinner, be aware. Owner is very nice and informative.

Thank you Robert for all your stars. Appreciate the review. Glad you had fun and enjoyed the Lower Dover meals (dinner at 6pm - the airport drive to Lower Dover is approx 1 hr, 40 min - you got here before it got dark which is always easiest on the driver).

Great rasta suite with cold AC and enclosed porch. Hot showers available in the middle of all the units if you want a hot shower. Owner of thr hostel is very accommodating with providing meals if requested. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing experience here! Maddy, the owner, is a wonderful hostess with lots of excellent suggestions for day trips and activities. She booked our drivers and guides for us and offered very detailed referrals for our trip. Food is fresh and tasty and there is plenty of it with local cooks cooking the meals. The property is charming with well appointed cabanas and rooms. Would definitely recommend for a unique experience in the jungle!

Demie-teinte

Thank you Eugeinie for posting your review. Your comments are helpful for us to make improvements as well set accurate expectations for the next guest. $$: Most tours (with guide & auto) are 100usd pp on average. You paid 30usd per person for a private cabana. Dinners (13usd) cost more at Lower Dover because we serve healthy, homemade meals with lots of vegetables Regarding Towels: Towels do come with the room and it was our error that towels were missing. Soap is also available for the asking. We didn't make that clear to you ...regretfully Regarding remoteness: True - but also untrue. Most guests who visit Belize seek the natural, not urban, world. True missing comforts: no ATM machines nearby & our village store is for basics only San Ignacio is 20 min by car/40 minutes (1USD) away by bus. Yet our central location only 5 car minutes from the highway gets you easily to Hopkins/Placentia, Tikal, International Airport or the budget national parks (inland Blue Hole or Xunantunich Maya ruins) Your review does inspire us to organize more formal tours of Lower Dover so guest better experience what is outside their front door (Maya ruins, jungle trails, swimming holes, wildlife - toucans, stargazing) - You don't get those in cities. Come back again Eugenie, things will have improved...thanks in part by your review:)

A hidden treasure

Maddy was an amazing host and made us feel very comfortable. The farm is amazing so are the rooms, the surroundings (river, unexplored Maya-Ruins, Djungle), the animals, the food! Thank u so much for a few days really enjoying a home apart from home!

Sweet. Love it that you took the time to see the on-site Maya ruins & experience the jungle. Also glad you enjoyed our healthy homemade meals for travelers-on-the-go. So important!
