"Wonderful location above the sea with a great view from the rooms, the terrace and the pool. High level of comfort and convenience with a free bar and great Onsen with superb views. You can walk to the beach by foot within 5 minutes and also to the town and restaurants in about 10-15 minutes which was very convenient. Great value hotel!"
"Great hotel with an excellent scenic view. Amazing food at the breakfast buffet and the Japanese restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay here as a family."
"Perfect place for family tour, beautiful view from room.. Service was excellent and staff were very friendly.. I want to go there again n again, highly recommended this place ❤️❤️❤️"
"Really great furnishings. We enjoyed the indoor onsen, which was already on for us at the right temperature when we arrived. The property has a manual in English which allowed us to understand how to operate all of the major appliances like the microwave oven and the washer / dryer.
The check-in process was the most involved of any property we stayed in in Japan."
"Overall great experience. Would have given them a 5/5 stars, but unfortunately had an unpleasant encounter with checkout. Upon checking in, we were told that our checkout is 11 AM. Our booking information also said checkout is 11AM. At 10:10 AM, we received a phone call that we were late for checkout. Tried to reconfirm with staff that our checkout time was 11 AM, but we were told no and that we must check out immediately. We were just about to use our private onsen one last time, but...

YuYu Hakone - Private Open Air Onsen Usage Guaranteed
10/10 Excellent
"The bedroom is exactly as shown in the pictures, and the staff are friendly. We had a great time as a family in the private onsen, and the Japanese breakfast was amazing. "
"Beautiful scenery, super close- walking distance to ride a gondola to a major world renowned attraction (volcano).
Super baby and kid friendly; we got a balcony room facing the lake which allowed us to open the screened door to get fresh air.
The onsen was clean and in excellent condition; lots of quality amenities.
Buffets were generous and quality as well. They had an unlimited sake, whiskey, wine, beer bar plus all the juices, soft drinks, tea and coffee you want. The coffee was meh; worse than Keurig, but the Japanese teas were very fine.
There were so many food options it is a little overwhelming but I think it would be nice to have a guide to introduce people to how you would do a curated kaiseki meal by course; so folks can enjoy some of that experience. "
"We really enjoyed our stay here and was a highlight of our trip! The surrounding area is beautiful, the hotel itself is gorgeous, and the staff were all incredibly helpful and kind. "
Ajisai Onsen Ryokan - Award Winning Private Open Air Onsen Hakone
10/10 Excellent
"Ajisai Onsen Ryokan presents beautifully. The grounds fit in with the surrounding forest landscape, creating a sense of serenity. The staff were friendly, attentive, and accomodating of various requests, including changes to private onsen access on days when we were engagin in Hakone and Gora's experiences. The ryokan is well situated, close to Gora station and cable car, however, it is a difficult walk due to the general steepness of the area - especially with larger luggage or walking with small children - a taxi is recommended by the facility and myself alike. The waters of the onsen themselves are hot, but not so hot that young children cannot enjoy the experience too. In terms of dining, the breakfast options are traditional or western, and children amd babies are catered to as well. Overall, a fantastic experience, and I look forward to the opportunity to return in the future!"
"I liked the authentic look and theme of the onsen. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Really enjoyed my time there and the culture. Shame it was just for one night. Oh , P.S. if you intend to use the onsen, you are expected to be in there totally nude, and washed clean before getting in. Sure it's a bit weird of a custom, but worth the experience."
