Posted 5 Dec 2023 on HotelsThe property has potential however overall I did not have a successful stay. Upon check in I was advised that the room had a shared bathroom. The owner advised that he had a room with a private bathroom but this was more expensive. He advised me to cancel the original reservation and re-book the en-suite room and he would authorise a refund via Hotels.com for the full cost of the original booking. I did this with great difficulty, as to why this could not have been sorted locally I am still unsure! Anyway Hotels.com emailed to advise the owner had not waived the cancellation fee for the original booking. When I approached him he stated they had not contacted him. I wasted two days of my holiday dealing with this. The owner then said that as the second booking was made using a promotional rate (but still much higher value than the original booking) he wanted me to give him the amount of the promotion back in order for him to agree the refund of the original reservation - basically blackmail. It was clear he had not responded to Hotels.com intentionally and this was part of his game to extract more money from me. Added to this the hotel had no heating on my first night and was not comfortable. The owner spends all of his time chain smoking in the kitchen - yes Kitchen! Meaning the whole place smelled of cigarette smoke. The breakfast was very basic and of poor quality and finally the photos on the website are not recent and not a true reflection. I do not recommend.

Cher monsieur, nous regrettons que votre séjour parmi nous ne correspondait pas à vos attentes. Cependant, votre commentaire semble sortir tout droit d’un livre de science-fiction.Vous avez vous-même choisi et réservé la chambre la moins chère, qui comprenait une salle de bain partagée. À votre arrivée, vous sembliez très nerveux et souhaitiez obtenir une suite au même prix, sans même avoir vu la chambre que vous aviez réservée. Nous avons réussi à vous apaiser en vous offrant la suite que vous désiriez, moyennant une différence de prix symbolique de 16 par nuit, petit déjeuner inclus. Nous ne comprenons donc pas les accusations d’extorsion et de chantage que vous mentionnez dans votre commentaire.Le chauffage fonctionnait parfaitement. De plus, la suite que nous vous avons offerte disposait de deux types de chauffage : quatre radiateurs classiques et un climatiseur réversible (chaud et froid), dont vous aviez la télécommande.Enfin, veuillez noter que la cuisine est un espace réservé exclusivement au personnel de l’établissement, et que vous n’y aviez donc pas accès.Nous espérons que ces clarifications répondent à votre commentaire.

Central location- great host - historic villa. Lots of good restaurants nearby. Well decorated and comfortable.

Suite was very private and roomy. Shared bathroom didn't create a problem as we were the only ones staying there.

Relaxing stay
Posted 19 Jan 2022 on HotelsWonderful hotel, super helpful staff, beautiful, quiet rooms and a lovely garden in the back where you can sit and enjoy a coffee. The fresh cooked breakfast is a nice way to start the day.
The rooms are very clean, the beds have cozy duvets and plenty of pillows. We were there in the winter and the rooms had heat and were plenty warm. Our room was up 2 floors of stairs, they also have ground level rooms (and stairs are the norm in Tunis). The sitting area outside our room was nice and relaxing, a bit of extra shared space to sit down. And the rooms are quiet, many places in the city can can be loud, or noisy, car honking, dogs barking, etc, but the rooms here are so very quiet, silent even!
The bathroom for a room with a private one are huge and clean. The hot water is consistent and warm.
We did not speak French or Arabic and the staff was very accommodating and patient, they spoke enough English to make communication possible and straight forward.
We would definitely stay here again and recommend the hotel!

The property was very close to the airport, and the owner Ali could not have been more accomodating! He picked me up from the airport, helped me plan the entirety of my stay in Tunis, and even offered to BBQ my last night in Tunis. The breakfasts were very fulling and just as nicely prepared.
