Quiet room in a small quiet to sleep which was all we needed and all we asked for. This is not a destination experience (unless you're going out with kayak tours they offer), but a nice out-of-the way place to sleep along the route

Pleasant Owners

Posted 12 Sep 2018
Pros: Friendly owners.
Cons: A little more variety for breakfast.
Location: Ideally situated for visiting the War Graves.
This is the first time we have stayed in a Gite and not a Hotel so it was a bit of an eye opener in relation to what we have been used to. We chose it because of the ideal location for visiting the War Graves from the Battle of the Somme which was our sole reason for our trip. The room was clean. We stayed for four nights and and on the second day we returned to find that the room had not been touched and the bed was as we left it. As we were out all day during our stay this was not a problem as we simply pulled up the bedclothes each morning before going out. The owners also run horse trekking, river canoeing and Valley walks. I think that this type of accommodation would be more suited to people with those interests rather than a longer stay. Our French is non existent and the owners spoke very little English so conversations were rather limited but they were a really friendly couple. In all staying in a Gite was a new experience but one that we enjoyed

Nice quiet working farm in Picardie!

Posted 15 Jul 2017
Pros: Clean, quiet, helpful owners...
Cons: Newer pillows on the bed and soap in the shower/bathroom.
Location: This small town is about 15 Kilometers from San Quentin. It is in the lovely farmland of Picardie where a good deal of the wheat for bread is grown..
This is a lovely, quiet and affordable place to stay. The room is nicely appointed and the bathroom was nicely updated with a shower (bring your own soap and shampoo). The bed was comfy and the bedding was nice. There was a lovely large rolled pillow, but the two other bed pillows were a little flat. The host Danielle and her husband Hubert were lovely, helpful and accommodating; they are also both fairly fluent in English. They have a barn with several horses, chickens, geese, Anna the Picardie herding dog (I love Lillie) at the property. They offer canoes/kayaks for rent and they also have a schedule for horse riding events (see their website). They have maps of the area and you can take a walk in nature among the wheat fields down to the creek/river). The hosts showed us around and to our room. There is a separate entrance to the guest rooms. They went to the boulangerie in another town to get us fresh baguette traditional and croissants for the morning breakfast. They served us hot coffee, tea, orange juice, bottled water and jams in addition to the croissant/baguette. They even asked if we wanted our milk warmed for our coffee/tea. If you want a true BnB experience and love the country, this is for you. If you prefer a busier feel of a larger town, then this is not for you. It was an excellent value and I'm glad we stayed a quiet night in the country. All the best.

Première expérience de gîte

Posted 5 Dec 2019 on Hotels

Posted 10 Dec 2018 on Hotels
