Had a wonderful say!

Posted 1 Nov 2020 on Hotels
We had a wonderful stay at this eco-friendly hotel! It is surrounded by beautiful nature. We enjoyed kayaking, Tatai waterfall, Mangrove tour, etc. The food was very good. Enjoyed conversation with Mr. Eliot. His staff were kind and friendly.

A magical stay

Posted 6 Apr 2018
Pros: Fabulous food, amazing atmosphere, very clean, kind and accommodating staff
Cons: Sun warmed showers would be great. The resort could sell few basics (eg bug spray, bug bite cream) as there is no shopping nearby if you forget
Location: Gorgeous location right on the river that can only be accessed by boat. Very quiet with lots of outdoor activities
This hotel is a magical place. It is important to note that it is not a five star resort. It is an eco lodge, and the owners attempt to minimize it's impact on the environment. As such, it is completely off the grid. IT runs on solar power, and there is no air conditioning, although fans make it very comfortable. There is also no hot water for showers - I certainly used less water/took shorter showers than I would have had there been any. With that said, the resort is absolutely gorgeous, and rooms are very clean and well appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay. You get to fall asleep to the sounds of the jungle, and wake up to sunshine and birds chirping. The food is fresh, plentiful, and delicious. Staff went out of their way to make sure that my difficult dining requirements (vegan and celiac) were accommodated, and I've rarely eaten so well. There were interesting excursions and activities organized every day, and also lots of time and space to just relax, whether on a swing, in a hammock, or on a dock by the river. I couldn't have asked for a better stay, and I would love to come back.

Relaxing few days at the Rainbow Lodge

Posted 30 Nov 2017 on Hotels
We had a lovely stay at the Rainbow Lodge. The setting was stunning and was everything we could have asked for for a relaxing three day break. The food served was delicious and the waiting staff were all lovely. We borrowed the lodge's kayaks and went down to Tatai waterfall ourselves which I'd highly recommend. My only wishes would be that our bathrooms had been cleaned during our stay and that the organised activities (particularly the walks) were a bit more reasonably priced. Overall though - would highly recommend and very good value for money.

Wonderful eco lodge in the jungle

Posted 12 Nov 2016 on Hotels
A wonderful oasis of calm, out in the jungle, just off the Tatai river. Accessible by a short boat trip, you are really surrounded by the sights and sounds of Cambodia's flora and fauna. There are seven wooden bungalows, raised on stilts from the jungle floor, with a central restaurant/bar/relaxing area. The lodge strives to ecological and community sensitivity, so there's no air conditioning, no heated water and no mini-bar! Everything you really need is here though: safe drinking water, great food as part of the price, light and (most importantly) WiFi! There's also a Spa on site, and there are few experiences as good as having a Khmer oil massage in a wooden pagoda, with only the sounds of the jungle and the river to disturb you. The staff are wonderful, and their enthusiasm for the lodge, the country they inhabit, and the local community shines through. Steve, Elliot & Janet work hard to balance the needs of their guests with the needs of the country, utilising solar power and a bio digester to limit the impact on the environment. They also fund, and work with the local community to enhance and provide services. Gee, the resident naturalist is genuinely passionate about everything growing in and around the lodge, and will happily go out on walks, hikes and kayak trips to share that enthusiasm. There's loads to do (if you want to, otherwise there's hammocks and great food). A trip to

Excellent jungle experience

Posted 6 Aug 2016
Don't expect luxury but this is a gem of a place. The food is outstanding and the setting is amazing. We did a full day trek ( in continual rain) which was still great fun and a real experience for the kids. We also treated ourselves to a thai massage each which was in the most peaceful setting ever! A lovely 3 nights.

Best place

The rainbow lodge was one of the best places on our tour through Cambodia. We had read the good reviews of other travellers and we can confirm these reviews totally. In addition: the food was also very good.

Riverside Utopia

Pros: Unpretentious yet still classy. That's a hard combo to pull off. Well done Rainbow Lodge.
A very special place, just far enough off the grid to ensure that we really wound down. Simple bungalows, a great communal space, a few steps to the river, an incredible bamboo jungle filled with the buzz of insects & the sounds of birds & gibbons in the trees. G & Elliot went out of their way to ensure our stay was memorable, & we were really impressed at their efforts to help the local community, especially the school. Our trip over to Tatai Village was eye opening & gave us a great glimpse of rural life in Cambodia, & the trek to the waterfall was simply amazing - if exhausting.

Keep up your good work!

The hotel is located in a very beautiful place at the Tatai river and the bungalows have a view no money can buy. A perfect place to relax in your hammock and looking at the wilderness of the jungle. We are sure the place is going to be even more amazing when all the renovations are done and all the plans are carried on. Thank you for being wonderful hosts to us and all the best of luck for all the things you have planned for Rainbowlodge Cambodia. For pictures look for #Rainbowlodgecambodia on Instagram.
