"Although clean, the room was the smallest we’ve ever stayed in, to the point that the sink was in the room not the bathroom. Very nice rain shower, but water didn’t drain properly the first day - it was fixed after notifying the front desk. View out the window was a wall several feet away. Air conditioning unit was loud and rattled all night, and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. Parking was $50 per night, but that appeared to be par for the downtown area."

"Check in took a little longer than expected as there was only one front desk clerk and a really long line. It wasn’t her fault as I heard her mention she asked for help but the manager brushed her off. The room was small but worked for us. The view of the bay was amazing and it was so neat"

"What a fabulous hotel, the oldest in the city, old world charm!!! we had a fabulous room on the fourth floor overlooking the beautiful tree that sprouts up our balcony was wonderful view of the city. Can’t stay enough about this fabulous hotel!!!! classic margarita in the salt and whiskey bar was delicious as where the Parmesan fries!!!! Robert met us at the door and was absolutely charming! Victor pointed us in the right direction to enjoy the gaslamp quarter and had lots of helpful tidbits if I ever come back to San Diego I am absolutely staying here!!!!!!"

"Really nice hotel; friendly, helpful staff; clean (housekeeping staff was great); nice pool area; convenient location - steps away from seaport village, ferry, midway; totally enjoyed our stay in 2 adjoining rooms with kids. Four stars because of food choices- Starbucks only open till 2 and twice the price outside the hotel; poolside bar/grill closed at 5; Marina Grill super expensive. The Exchange had decent food and was open at all hours but pricey. With kids, we needed to eat at the hotel more than we would have liked. However, that said, we would stay there again!"

"The room was very cute and cozy. Air conditioner was very useful. The bathroom was spacious and the shower was big which had both overhead shower and handheld. There isn't a designated parking. You must find street parking but it wasn't a problem as we always found a space. A restaurant is on the same premises and even though the food smelled delicious, we never got to eat there. There were two beverage vouchers to use at the restaurant but we didn't get to use them either. Although some reviewers complained about noise, we never experienced it. The owner is very communicative and we had no problem accessing the room. We would definitely go back."
