Great Stay and Great Location - 100% satisfied

Pros: the fresh and modern bathroom was a real and welcome surprise
Cons: perhaps a microwave in the room
Location: I was in Tenterfield for work and research but it is a very striking town, framed by circle of hills, with some great main street architecture
The Royal Motel Tenterfield appears to be a typical basic country motel but it has many special features, the staff were always helpful, the generous supplies of snacks and goodies - renewed daily - and the newly renovated bathrooms made it a standout. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The position in the town was excellent, just a little off the main road so little traffic noise and the motel is situated in the generous rear allotment of the hotel. The Royal Hotel itself is also a quirky but memorable venue dating back to the mid 19th century but substantially enlarged during the art deco period when much of its appearance and inside features dates from, in a combination of Spanish Mission and Morroccan. The public bar has a fun renovation in an outback Aussie style and is worthy of a visit.

Wonderful experience in the newly refurbished rooms at the back. Late checkout and heaps of free snacks, our stay was quiet, comfortable and great value. Highly recommend this motel.

Surprisingly great as so close to Main Street.
Posted 5 Jul 2017I was concerned at first staying in a Hotel Motel near a pub/bottle shop as I was travelling with young children and noise but will return next trip.

Best place to stay in Tenterfield.

Very clean room, completely updated bathroom and comfy bed. No chef = no meals. No one available for check out despite ringing their bell for attention.

Website it is somewhat misleading

Pros: Bathroom was very clean, bright and new. Tea and coffee supplies excellent.
Cons: Exhaust fan in bathroom didn't work.
Location: Tenterfield is a very pleasant town in a very pleasant location
We were disappointed that the wotif website did not show a picture of the hotel at the front of the motel units. The website gives the impression that this is a motel, not a hotel/motel. We were a little worried when we arrived as the hotel is a bit old and delapidated whereas the photos on the website show modern motel units only. The units were quite nice and the bathroom in particular was very new and very clean but I really thought we were booking a 'motel' room. We had trouble finding the facility because we were looking for a 'motel' not an old pub and I do feel somewhat deceived by the website's representation of this accommodation.

Hotel/motel in the middle of town

Pros: Clean modern motel units
Cons: No chef, therefore no breakfast or meals.
Location: Interesting, clean country town with a lot of historical interest.
Motel units out the back of a typical country town hotel. The motel units were excellent, good beds, recently renovated with new bathrooms. Room supplies were very good, biscuits, coffee, tea, water, and bathroom.
