Perfect little getaway for a quiet getaway

Perfect stay

Rok Plaza is situated overlooking Alcala Square on the one side and from the shared roof top terrace has a prefect sea and sunset view. We had a spacious 2 bedroom apartment on the first floor which was serviced daily so always spotless, comfortable huge bed.

Stunning apartment- awkward check in

The positives first - the apartment really is of a very high standard, very large & beautifully decorated overlooking a square with a small balcony which was nice to relax on of an evening & see the goings on.
The pictures on the hotels.com website are very misleading, there is no bar or restaurant accessible from the hotel. The main image on the website is actually of a restaurant nearby & the images of the snug areas we never found.
You have to access the apartments from the back of the hotel, we didn’t struggle with parking but we walked past the apartments several times as they are lacking signage.
On the brief it says they have multilingual staff but essentially you are met by the cleaner, there is no reception & she doesn’t speak English very well (we understand that we’re in a Spanish country so should be able to speak in Spanish) but to say the staff are multilingual is not true.
The TV didn’t work, no sound system & couldn’t use the bath as there wasn’t a plug.
Overall.. absolutely stunning apartment & despite all my negative criticism I would stay there again, I just think they need to make a few minor changes.

We were delighted to host you and since you are coming again we feel the obligation to clarify few of the things in the review.
We are lucky to have multi language speaking staff, as a matter of fact just one of them speaks and writes perfectly well 5 languages.
The one replying here is one of them.
You are right that the cleaning staff servicing your suite only speak 2 languages each.
But if you were to need anything of importance that the cleaning staff doesn't understand, we would have been at your request on the spot.
Rok Plaza does not have a reception because it is not a hotel. We pioneered the new concept of "Boutique Suites" to save you on needless expenses.
For example why raise your price and make you pay for 24 hour receptionists if at Rok Plaza we check you in directly in the comfort of your own room saving you the hassel of standing for your turn at the check-in desk!
Or pay for a pool maintenance when the beach is 5 meters from the property door.
Also why make you pay for a night handy man to change one of the 37 bulb-lights in your suite if that could be done in the morning!
It is true we do not have signs advertising Rok Plaza because we rather not have solicitors or walk-in reservations. We prefer a more selective process to host great guests such as yourself.
The entrance to the apartment is not "in the back", rather Rok Plaza has two facades facing two different streets: Calle La Plaza and Calle Blasco Ibañes. The address is on your reservation. Wether printed at home before the flight, coming in Taxi or rental car... Google brings you right at the door.
We took advantage of this reply merely to help our future guests understand the concept of why they would have paid much more for a similar stander, would they have booked elsewhere.

Initially hard to find for the taxi driver-it’s not the building on the photo- however the front of the building from the plaza is stunning. It’s so close to the dramatic rocky cove and there’s a fabulous range of places to eat- all close by. Lovely walk on the promenade and easy bus links just a short walk up the hill.

The location is amazing - balcony looks onto the village square and the roof terrace looks over beautiful harbour. The quality of the apartment was fantastic. It is a group of apartments in a building with the only shared amenity the roof terrace. Not a problem but it does mean there isn't a Rok Plaza sign outside so it was hard to find. Highly recommended.

When a reservation is made the address shows and it is "Calle Blasco Ibanez number 12, Alcala / Guia de Isora
Tenerife". It is very simple to find but it is true that as of now we like to keep Rok Plaza at a certain standard, that we feel that putting a lit business sign is a lowering in standard.

Great view, great neighborhood, wonderful place!
Posted 28 Oct 2018 on HotelsWe stayed at the villa, a detached property on two floors with a roof terrace directly facing the sea. The view is stunning! The house is very spacious and can comfortably accommodate 4 people having two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen is very large and fully equipped, and the cozy living room has cable tv and wifi. The house has independent air conditioning in the two floors. The property is kept very clean and the hotel's personel is friendly and helpful. Parking is easily available free of charge in nearby streets.
Alcala (Guía de Isora) is a great place for a holiday. It has easy access to most touristic locations in the island but it is still a calm and charming village. The neighborhood has numerous restaurants that we suggest you visit. We fully recommend and we would totally go back.

A unique oasis of relaxation
Posted 24 Sep 2016 on HotelsThe property is very unique and wonderfully surprising - many nice touches and clearly well kept with attention to detail. Full kitchen was very convenient, bedroom was comfy. Steps to a beautiful beach, many nice restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, banks in easy distance - with taxi stand and bus stop close by. Management was very helpful and welcoming - recommended several local activities, restaurants, etc. Check in and Check out was very easy. Would highly recommend and would stay again in a heartbeat - easily exceeds any of the "tourist traps"

Apt. left unlocked. I alerted owner; he blamed me
Posted 22 Aug 2015 on HotelsWow. I got back to this apartment complex one day and the main door was ajar. Instead of giving this place a negative review I thought "inform the management so they can try to fix it if there is an issue with the door or maybe they can put a sign reminding people to make sure the main door was closed."
The response I received was an interrogation about when I left/returned from the apartment and (this is a direct quote from the email) "but it could be that you did not lock the door"...,
Wow. Like this is a nice apartment but not only did I feel really unsafe when I found the door open but I really don't like that the owner did not apologize, take any responsibility, or try to rectify the situation besides schooling me on proper locking techniques (which no one had showed me when I arrived at the place).

Alcala Tenerife is amongst the safest places in Europe.
It is normal for a touristic establishment to have the main door ajar as some other guests may be exiting or entering the establishment to place their objects in their rental car or Taxis
