Beautiful but old hotel

Posted 7 Apr 2021 on Hotels
The owner was really nice but we had no hot water in our room, and had to take a shower in a different room. A breathtaking view from the hotel and the room balcony is tiny but great view!

Superb Views, Excellent Cook, and Very Nice Hosts

Posted 15 Jan 2020 on Hotels
The hotel is probably the second-best on the island, therefore, I suggest to put in balance the good and the "exotic" factors. The restaurant is really outstanding. More specifically, the dinner meals were absolutely delicious. I tried the tropical sauces, the Pizza, the salad - everything was very tasty. The hosts are very nice and try to help in any way they can. Always with a smile. The hotel is positioned only minutes from the landing dock of the ferry, just across the street from ones of the beaches, and still in "downtown" Taboga. It is very cutely decorated, with vintage and a mixed colonial and French theme. However, one has to take into account the inexpensive rooms and expect no fridge, no hair-drier, no working bed-lamps, and no luxury features. It is pretty difficult to get across any specific requests if you do not speak Spanish. There are a total of 65 steps from the street level to your room, so take that into consideration - in case you have any mobility issues. Also to keep in mind is that you are on a tropical island, with no screened windows and in a hot and humid climate, meaning you may encounter tiny ants in the bathroom, or even the odd mean-biting little fly. Make sure you pack some insect repellant if you are skin-sensitive.

A pleasing quaint place. Great location. Poor water pressure, no water at night. Poor wifi. Minimal air conditioning. Most rooms do NOT have air conditioning.

We apologize for the inconvenience. The Taboga water is an Island that depends on the wells that we have and because of the lack of rain they do not have enough water to supply the entire population and the Hotel as other places we depend on the reserve water tanks, and we have to control it to supply the entire building. he WIFI, being also an Island, we depend on the signal that arrives from Panama City to the receiving antenna that is established on the Island and therefore there are signal drops from time to time About the rooms, the Hotel has 11 rooms of which 3 are ceiling fan and 8 with air conditioning, people reserve according to their cost those of ceiling fan are cheaper 65.00 + 10% and those of air conditioning with Ocean view 90.00 + 10% and those with air conditioning overlooking the town 80.00 + 10% those rates are for two people. Thank you for your visit and we reiterate our apologies.

1 of the limited choices on the island

Posted 10 Jul 2019 on Hotels
For the price- the place is over rated, not sure the hotel rating at the current moment, but I would give it a 2. This being said, because you don't have many options for stay on the island. Pros- Authentic little hotel Open balcony to let in the fresh air ( temp. usually 35 C+) Only hotel that has a restaurant open in the evening Amazing view over looking the beach Great food with the limited options on the Island The wait staff which was also Bell boy, Maid, Handy man and go to person at the hotel, He spoke almost no English but was very attentive and great customer service The rooms have large ceiling fans Cons- You have to walk up about 80+ stairs to get to the hotel-- with luggages it was a nightmare. The rooms are small which is ok but not for the price No running water after 11pm till 7am - Toilet or sink No air conditioner in most of the rooms which is ok but they should add that to the hotel description when booking The rooms with air conditioner is an additional $25 a night -- Which didnt make any difference No fridge which is standard on any hotels in the island There was a visit in the middle of the night inside our room by a large cockroach --I understand insects are apart of island life-- No judgement just not a fan Check in process was a bit laid back All hotel charges are to be paid at the hotel- which is fine, this should be in the hotel description on the tour operators website. This is for the TOUR OPERATORS not hotel

Terrible, not what we expected for the price.

The property is ok, but they do not take good care of it. We had no water at night and we could not take a shower in the morning, towels were ripped, no telephone, no change of towels, did not make the beds, no air conditioned, breakfast said 7:30 and the cook arrived at 8:00. Dinner was supposed to be at 6:30PM and they started serving at 8:00PM. The room had one chair and not even a small table.

The view was excellent from the balcony. Must walk up 98 steps. Room small and outdated. Water turns on only at 7:30am. No helpful staff. Good location.
