We stayed here for a night when I took my son up to start university, it is a lovely old building with very friendly staff. the rooms are very spacious with its own bathroom. The beds are very comfortable with nice fresh linin. We will be staying here again when we go back up.

Homely and Warm

Posted 8 Sep 2017
Pros: The staff were its best asset. Very helpful and attentive even when under pressure. Always had a smile and a solution.
Cons: Wifi needs to be in the rooms.
Location: I was here working so didn't get to enjoy the local town much. Great place to stay if you need access to all Stoke postcodes.
The hotel was great value for money. My only issue being wifi was not in the rooms and only in the communal areas. The hotel is big and a little understaffed, but you wouldn't notice as the staff at the hotel were great and very attentive. They basically made the stay.

A Good Value-for-money Hotel

Posted 31 Aug 2017
Pros: Cleanliness
Cons: Bathroom
Location: Close to railway.
I read all the negative reviews about this place and thought on this occasion price overrules all and this was the cheapest place I could get so I booked. I was pleasantly surprised. I do wish when people review a place, they would remember how much they paid. This was, for me, a cheap hotel and I was very pleased. The building is an old building and there are no disabled facilities but a phone call when booking made this clear so no disappointment here. They allocated me the nearest possible room to reception to minimise my walking and all was fine. True it's right by the railway but with double glazed windows we weren't disturbed. Room was clean if not spotless and bathroom was OK too. A little staining around tile grouting but only a little and that was fine. All in all we had a very enjoyable one night stay comparable to any Travelodge where we usually stay. Well done Crown Hotel!

Dirtiest Hotel I have ever stayed in.

Posted 11 Aug 2017 on Hotels
The towels and the bedding was clean although the bedding was badly ripped. The neighbours were reasonably quiet. I've now run out of good things to say. I stay in alot of cheap hotels and this is without a doubt the dirtiest I have ever stayed in. The floors, all surfaces, window, sink, bath and even the toilet seat were filthy. The bathroom was moldy, side of the bath falling off, sink was an empty plug hole and the water was cloudy. I did not try to use the shower. The bed was so old it was all springs and shook when I sat on it like it would collapse. I opened the window and then had to lift it back into the frame to close. The TV was ancient and didn't work at all. The view was a wall of a building. There was no internet in the room though tbf it did say there would be no internet on booking.

The HOTAL was okay, but it was very confusing finding my way around the rooms, the signs sent me the wrong way several times????
