What makes this hotel so worth staying in are the staff. Really attentive and helpful, particularly the team in the restaurant. Food was really good too…would definitely stay again.

Service & staff excellent. Sumptuous decor but not always practical in the bedroom i.e. drawers not suitable for clothes.

Offered an upgraded, very spacious room at a sensible price. Rooms and general areas comfortable and somewhat quirky. Better seating in the dining area (orangery) would be beneficial. Personal selection for breakfast was good but the area was rather cramped and would benefit from reconfiguration. Not sure if the two leapord skin thrones in the bar/dining area added anything at all to the decor! As in most of Guernsey parking is at a premium especially as the hotel has only 5 dedicated spaces. The hotel was nicely positioned for us. The walk to the waterfront was about 10 minutes and all downhill. Which of course means the return was all uphill and was quite steep in places. Those less agile may wish to consider this. We enjoyed our stay at the Duke of Richmond which was good value.

Lovely hotel at top of very steep hill (advise getting taxi if have luggage). Staff were all excellent and couldn’t do enough for you. Room spotless but felt a bit cramped due to layout and all the furniture. Breakfast choices and quality were superb. Evening meal and drinks very nice but expensive. Heated pool and surrounding area was 10/10. Among our visits were Cobo bay and Sark and would highly recommend both as day trips. Didn’t find we needed a car as buses so cheap and reliable.Overall really enjoyed a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The Duke of Richmond provided a lovely base whilst in Guernsey - it certainly did not have the normal hotel noises i.e. doors closing or toilets flushing - felt that the sound proofing was great. The decor was extremely comfortable too. I have been visiting Guernsey for a good number of years but this was the first time staying at DOR but it will not be the last - well recommended do not feel any one would be disappointed.
