From the airport in Dangriga to the island we were greeted with a warm welcome and plenty of attention was provided to us. The rooms were clean and comfortable, pillows and linen were fantastic. We had appetizers brought to our door and resort was beautiful. The island offered spectacular views and comfy chairs to just relax. Also there was plenty of recreational toys available to keep us busy. This resort offered great accommodations for boaters also. Our family joined us during their sailing, it worked out well. : )

Best vacation spot ever!

Our stay at The Blue Marlin Resort was well beyond our expectations! I have had the opportunity to do a lot of traveling in my life and this place is at the top of my list! My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and can't wait for an opportunity to return! The island is incredibly beautiful and peaceful. The service was second to none. Rosella, the owner is so personable and helpful. Sonya went above and beyond to make sure our every need and want was quickly met. From the chef (who made the most wonderful meals for us), to the waiter (Luis I believe was his name) and Stacy who does everything from scuba and snorkeling outings to massage made us feel like celebrities with the service they provided! If you are looking for a place to relax, disconnect from everyday stresses and connect with the people you love, then I can't recommend this place enough! Thank you for making us feel like family!

Quiet and secluded

Posted 10 Mar 2014
Pros: Quiet, relatively clean.
Cons: Buildings needed repair - water was not predictable and hot water was a 50/50 likelihood to be on at the time I jumped in the shower
Location: Not much to do other than relax and enjoy the sun.
We stayed at the Blue Marlin on our recent trip to Belize. South Water Caye is about 45 minutes from Dangriga and is a small island that has three resorts on it. Even though the island is about a mile long by about 2 blocks wide the three resorts don't seem to get along very well. I think this is planned so that they can each have the guest of their resort be committed to the services (food, drinks, snorkeling, diving, etc.) of that resort. We booked our trip online and paid plenty for the one week stay and airfare. What I didn't realize is all of the added cost that wasn't included. The flights included in our booking was into Belize City and didn't include the short (25 minute) flight from Belize City to Dangriga (an additional $163 per person round trip) and the 45 minute boat ride (an additional $135 per person round trip). The meals are also an additional fee ($2,145 per couple including snorkeling). Don't forget to add the 12.5% sales tax and 10% service fee to everything. The staff was great. They where very friendly and did what they could within the obvious boundaries in place my management. The food was American fare and was average in quality. For the price charged you would think the food would be better but in general it was OK. In short, if I knew all of the add-on fees that wheren't included initially I wouldn't book with them again, a $4k to $5k trip should be a lot better quality than Blue Marlin.

South water is fantastic

Bellissimo .

Posted 3 Mar 2015
