The intuitivenss of the staff about my situation (injured back) that started with Nazin and Raphael had displayed in making my stay at the resort more enjoyable was very appreciated. I wish I knew the names of all of the other staff members that had a part in my stay. The room was nice and clean, food was very enjoyable, pool was maintained and used, the facilities (view) were kept up and great as well. I will make it a point to come back.

This is a fun and uniquely designed resort with fun theme rooms and so much creative detail. My friend and I stayed in the cave (appropriate because I’m sort of a “bear”). The food was great, the pool was nice, and everyone there made us feel so welcome. It’s on a beautiful sandy beach too. We are certain to be back.

Positives: Sugar beach is approximately 5 hours driving time from Dumaguete. The beach is clean, sand is soft, ocean water clear, rock formations are pretty. Improvements: The resort is tired and in need of updates and a complete makeover. The smell of the dogs (walking and laying down in the restaurant) is unappealing. Overall the staff are friendly, however, the ratty and stained towels, 2 star food service and long wait time for any requests is just a bit much. The pool water is cold. During breakfast, we observed the pool attendant pouring chlorine in the pool and stirring with a stick (not making this up). The "resort" may have provided a beautiful experience and served guests well in the past. At the present time, I would take a pass and look elsewhere.

If you like quiet beaches, world class food, and a world class operation, this is the resort to go to. The music in the lounge is relaxing. The new owners took over 2 months ago, and from the new pool to other improvements, that will make the resort even better are on the way. The owners are very nice. My only regret was not booking the resort earlier and having more time to spend there. Fast internet is available, along with cable TV. If you like to relax and enjoy world class food, this is the place to be.

The place is lovely and quiet. Each room in Takatuka have its own theme, which we find very unique compared to the other hotels that we have stayed. We booked the Marco Polo room, which sleeps 5 with a maximum of 6 people. During our stay we were allowed to bring our own food and use their kitchen (and grill) since their restaurant isn’t open yet; however, they do serve coffee and some quick snacks like sandwiches, pizza and sausages. It is about a 20-minute drive going to the boulevard, where you can find several restaurants that closes quite late at night. They have parking spaces outside their gate, but if you want to park inside their property you can do so with a minimal charge. I suggest you call them ahead of time to reserve a parking space inside their property since it can only accommodate 4 cars. The owner and the staff are friendly and nice, the owner even waited for us near the exit to bid us farewell upon our check out.

The room was in great condition and had fun themes. The property is decorated very nicely. And the bathrooms and shower worked very well. Hoever, the WIFI did not work at all in the rooms and was spotty around the property. The property is far from the main part of town and Campomanes Bay, so it would be best to bring your own car, as the tricycle rides can be expensive.

Great beach and water for swimming. The resort is a fun spot for 1 - 2 nights with eclectic style rooms. Super fun.
