Potential

Posted 13 Jul 2019 on Hotels
Good location is a plus as is the excellent breakfast on offer and the pool facility. - Beware book in is 3pm not 2pm - very unhelpful man on reception when we tried to book in at 2pm as per e-mail and info on Hotels.com website, verging on rude turned his head away repeating book in at 3pm no initial welcome or direction to terrace seating area etc, customer care training required at the least ! Wonder if they had lost a receptionist as waiting staff appeared to double up and cover reception but some did not seem comfortable with book in/out system. Some staff were helpful but others appeared to be unable to smile during our three days there. So much potential a bit of sprucing up and some customer care would go a long way.

timewarp lost opportunity - spend money to update!

Posted 5 Sep 2018 on Hotels
A basic, remote and overpriced 2 star hotel (advertised pool, sauna, room with balcony not working / not available) with cost effective 70s decor, thin carpets, little soundproofing and a noisy caravan-like toilet . Sulky reception (owner?) who conceded to an early check-in after some comedy (to us at the least) to-ing and fro-ing and a 4.5 % discount for no pool, sauna, balcony (or welcome). Breakfast better with fair choice and a fair few flies on the buffet. of the 7 hotels we stayed in across Germany.

Stop over on our German road trip.

Posted 27 Apr 2018 on Hotels
We stayed at Hotel Paulushof for just one night as a stopover during our road trip through Germany. Although the hotel is slightly dated, we could not fault it. Parking was excellent, our car was directly under our balcony. Our room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, as was all of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and dinner was excellent. The hotel overlooks the lake, in a very quiet spot. Great for walkers and cycling. We didn’t go into Simmerath itself so cannot say what that is like, but we did visit Monschau which is not far from the hotel and would recommend a visit.

Hotel Paulushof

Pros: Peace & quiet. Area & views. Food.
Cons: Tea/coffee facilities not available in room.
Location: Walking, cycling, sailing. Beautiful town of Monschau 15 mins drive away.
Set in a very quiet & peaceful area overlooking the lake and dam. The Eifel region is a haven for walkers, cyclists and nature lovers in general. Found the room to be quite large, very comfortable and clean with balcony view. Bathroom a little dated but perfectly functional & typical style for German hotel. Breakfast (included) was excellent with plenty of choices available. Evening meal in restaurant was of a high standard, excellent local wine & beer available and not too expensive. Restaurant in typical style with lots of wood throughout. Staff were great, not too much English spoken (which matched our German) but we managed easily without any problems. Easy parking at hotel with plenty of space. We didn't notice it mentioned but they do take credit cards. The hotel seemed to be generally occupied by the older generation but made no difference to us. Limited facilities in the rest of the village, it's just a quiet, relaxing place! Would consider staying here again if visiting area.

European tour

Posted 3 Aug 2016 on Hotels
We were travelling across Europe and wanted a quiet place to stop away from traffic and too much hussle and bussle. The hotel hit every expectation for this. Set in a national park with fantastic views it is ideal for a quiet get away as well as a one night stop. It has its own pool (we didn't use it on this trip) hotel is very clean and restaurant serves good quality food. (Breakfast also very good) furnishings a little tired but very clean the staff and management are fastidious and work very hard. A very good choice and a place we will use again.

Lovely hotel, beautiful location

We stayed here for one night in between our European road trip and it was just what we needed. The location is wonderful, with exquisite views. The hotel, although a little dated, was clean, quiet and comfortable with friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely recommend this hotel for a short and relaxing getaway.
