The Inn was wonderful. The innkeepers were warm and charming. Even considering the age of the building (1890ish) it was solid and up to date.just a great two days.

This hidden gem takes you to a different world of Colonial, Moroccan, eclectic era where food is delicious, books to read, board games to play and a glass of wine to forget the world outside. Rooms & common areas are super clean and decorated in a maximalist way that gives you a cozy vibe. Breakfast was delicious and served hot as per your time. I loved going to butler's kitchen to get some popcorn or a can of soft drink. Plenty of Coffee and tea options are there to pick from. If the sky is clear, you are lucky see stars from their patio. I have never seen these many stars. Also, the neighborhood is very safe and I can be out in the dark till late night if I wish to. Jeff and chef Monika are super host, very friendly and super quick with text messages. They were attentive and welcoming. Can't wait to go back for a quality time again!

Jeff and Monika were amazing! I have a restricted diet (AIP-Autoimmune Paleo) and Monika went above and beyond to prepare foods I can eat. This meant the world to me! Everything was so delicious you can really tell she cares about her cooking. Jeff was super helpful with ideas on where to go and what to do around the area. We want to recommend this to everyone!!!!!!!

Love the Chestnut Street Inn

Loved the Chestnut Street Inn. The room was clean and comfortable with a private bath. Monika and Jeff were amazing. Monika is such a talented chef. Dinner is a must and totally worth the cost. Jeff is the definition of welcoming and hospitable. We will be back even if it’s just for dinner.

Good for biking/golfing in the area and great food

I wish that we could have stayed longer because there were many outdoor activities that we did not have a chance to check-out: there are many bike trails in the area and golfing, too. We spent quite a bit of time in Princeton seeing plays at Festival 56, but we also visited the Owen Lovejoy home--a restored home of an Illinois congressman back in Lincoln's day who helped runaway slaves by hiding them in his attic. We also saw an old one-room school house that was moved next to the Lovejoy home. We also visited Hornbaker botanical gardens and nursery. We also drove to Kewanee to check out the biggest furniture store that I have ever seen--it covered several square blocks. Princeton is about 15 minutes away from Sheffield which is wear the Chestnut Street Inn is. You can park right on the street. All the rooms have refrigerators, TV, and a choice of 1200 movies to watch. Jeff and Monika thought of everything to make the rooms comfortable. And the best part was the breakfast--truly gourmet. We'll be back again next year when we come to see the plays at Festival 56, but we will have our bikes with us.
