The hotel’s location is ideal. Shopping malls, convenience stores, drugstores, food options, and the JR station are all within a 10-minute walk. The hotel also has an onsen located right next to the main building. Self check-in and check-out are fast and convenient.
The hotel has its age, but they kept the rooms clean, and provided extension cords in the rooms without having to ask is very nice. They have English speaking staff ready during check in times.

There is a lot of restaurants around the hotel.
so convenients.
For the most part this was a good stay. Convenient parking right outside, super nice onsen, and comfortable room. The experience would've been better if the room had been "pre-heated" as it was really cold when we checked in and it took quite some time for the heater to heat up the room to a comfortable temperature. Check-in was a bit tedious as it felt as a slower process doing it at the machine (with a staff member there to help) rather than just handling it directly in the reception.
Covering pretty much what I need.
Staffs are nice. Locations good. Public bath is very good.
The only thing is need education/guide how to use facility properly for people from over seas.
Very nice bath facility but one day was very dirty water, and I was not able to use a large bath tub, so as other a few Japanese people same time in the bath.
Tabist the Green was great in terms of location. Other than that, the property was old and worn; the sentó was across the street (so not easily accessible); check in was confusing (the self check in screen indicated we would get two keys, but we only received one); the bathroom was tiny, even by Japanese standards, and they entire property smelled old and smoky.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The room is very small especially the bath room, hard to move around. The wall is thin, can hear next room talking louder. But the location is really good. Walkable distance to otaru station, Otaru canal. Front staff is nice too. Help us to make a phone call to my next hotel in Niseko.
The good -The onsen and sauna are great. Clean and excellent condition. The free coffee / espresso is quality. 2-3 short blocks to otaru station. The bed itself is reasonably comfortable. The large table in the common area of the lobby is appreciated.
The bad - this is a run down hostel - even the main building is hostel style. We kind of thought the annex was a hostel andain building more of a hotel. But if you are expecting a hotel, it's not. Rooms are tiny. Carpet and walls in hallway and elevator are dirty. Window frame in room is chipped / worn. Cabinet appears from '70s. Bathroom is a pod and is cruise ship tiny. It just does not feel comfortable here. Breakfast is in the annex building across the street. We checked it out but 1800 yen for runny eggs, ham, and white buns w 3-4 Asian options - we took a pass and found the quality and selection at 7-11 was quite a bit better.
All in all, the coffee and the onsen get 2 points each. And the bed gets a point. 5/10 feels too generous.
If you can kind of turn a blind eye to some of the negatives I mentioned above and focus on the positive, you will likely enjoy the onsen and the coffee.
If you are going to ski, you won't be able to beat the powder snow in Hokkaido.
Check in was smooth and quick. Only downside was our hotel room’s toilet had a really awful smell which don’t go away. Also as our room located at the opposite second building and the access needs to pass by the restaurant which have strong cooking smell. So if you have plan to stay this hotel, remember to request at the main building or just simply just choose other hotel.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Very good service, but the room needs a serious renovation. Things are falling apart.
When I booked and paid, car parking and breakfast was included. But when I checked in, car parking and breakfast was not given and asked for extra charges. They are making fool
I believe prison cells are larger. Claustrophobic bathroom, couldn't be any tinier. Paper thin walls. Super loud cleaning staff. Overcooked, lukewarm fish for breakfast. No friendliness of staff, just a machine. This is not a 3 star hotel, at all.
So I believe this is just because I booked last minute but I cannot believe I paid 39,000¥ for a hostel not hotel!
I must say the Douro was a good touch yet there was not locks on the rooms just a curtain & no standing room writhing the room just a bed & desk with a safe for valuables, if I paid 10,000¥ for this I wouldn’t be complaining yet when I almost paid quadruple that. This is a joke
