Nestled in the historic Santiago, this place offers a vibrant and convenient stay, with its prime location within walking distance of Santiago Cathedral and other main attractions. The dining experience is a highlight, showcasing local seafood that enrich the stay. The staff's warmth and efficiency enhance the overall experience. However, guests should be aware that the house central location exposes it to the lively nightlife, particularly on Saturdays, which might disrupt the sleep of light sleepers.

This place was a phenomenal end to our Camino journey! Just steps from the catedral. The host, Christina, was so helpful throughout our stay (she helped us bring up our suitcases, gave us great recommendations, and organized two early morning taxis for us, etc.). My dad and I loved every part of this stay and would absolutely come back.

It’s a small hotel with small rooms but very well set up and extremely convenient around the corner from the major cathedral

Casa da balconada
Sweet little place practically next door to the cathedral. Just six rooms on three floors. Cristina, the owner and amazing one-woman operator of this fairly-recently renovated mini hotel, manages to keep things running smoothly. The rehab of this ancient edifice was done with style and panache while attaining the most efficient usage of square inches/centimeters seen on land. If you want to be near all of the tourist action of the casco viejo, you can’t find a better location. Each floor of Casa da Balconada has two rooms. We spent the first two of our four nights in the front room facing the street. It was a Friday and Saturday and things got boisterous at times out on the street. We moved to the back twin-bedded room facing an internal patio, and it was perfectly quiet. The beds are comfortable, the heating and the Wi-Fi worked well. And Cristina was a charming attentive hostess. If you are not young and fit the steep narrow stairs to the three floors could be a challenge. We are not young, but we are fit, and the stairs were not a problem for us.
Highly recommend Cristina’s Casa da Balconada.

Pros: next to the cathedral, area is very safe and clean, room is modern/updated and clean, and staff is very friendly and helpful
Cons: next the cathedral (bell tolls every 30 mins), you need to walk and carry all you luggage/gear in and out, no elevator (but staff will carry your luggage/gearupstairs good luck getting it down.
