This place is gorgeous! The hosts are welcoming and kind, the accommodations are top rate and the surroundings are beautiful. You need to take a few narrow, Portuguese roads to get there but it is well worth that effort.

Like a Dream

The home is beautifully furnished with original pieces, our room (Nina"s room) overlooked the valley with outstanding views from the patio doors. The hosts, Jose and Milena, couldn't have been nicer and served a wonderful breakfast and were always available for information. At night as my wife and I were sitting on the terrace taking in the scenery, Milena brought us out two glasses of port with some peanut snacks complementary. You should not miss this place if you are staying in the region.

This was our favorite accommodation on our 25 day tour of Portugal. The property has been in the family for 4 generations. The apartment we stayed in was delightful and beautiful. We enjoyed having the spotless swimming pool to ourselves. Our hosts were amazing and so very helpful and attentive. If you ever have an opportunity to stay here I would HIGHLY recommend it!

A beautiful old farmhouse full of antiques, absolutely gorgeous. Everything was of the highest quality. Five-star. Even the bed linen was monogrammed. Excellent homemade breakfast. Secluded and peaceful. Fascinating history. We had a problem finding it as for some reason the emailed instructions were not received and google sent us to an identically named hotel in Regua! The rural location is a bit remote from Regua and the Douro but the ten-minute drive suited us fine.

The property and the hosts were exceptional. We enjoyed the privacy, as well as the common areas such as the pool, the garden and the lovely homemade breakfast prepared by the owner each morning.
There were limited dining walkable options but still well located and approximately 10 minutes drive from the Douro River.
I highly recommend this place!

Our stay at Casa do Salgueiral was absolute perfection. We all wished that we could have stayed longer than the two nights we had booked. The apartment was beautifully appointed with gorgeous antiques and hints of modernity to give the space a stylish yet eclectic feel. It was very spacious with comfortable beds and all the necessary amenities. There owners were gracious and welcoming, providing us with a lovely charcuterie plate and sandwiches when we arrived late in the evening for our check in after a long day on the road. Each morning an exquisite basket of home baked pastries with fruit and yogurt arrived at our door. The pool was a lovely reprieve from the heat of the summer day. The views are second to none of the rolling hills and vineyards of the Douro Valley. It was our favourite place we stayed in Portugal and we would love one day to return.

Very much worth the effort to get to this breathtakingly beautiful property.
Our cottage was very comfortable for a family of four, with everything we needed. Our teenagers enjoyed the pool above and billiards in the lower room.
The views from all around were stunning.
