Older hotel, but reasonably well maintained & comfortable. Check in process took *way* too long. “Resort Fees” of $40/day are added (& have recently increased) to justify things that are normally included by default - such as room cleaning…
Breakfast was very decent, but eating area placed tables too close together making it crowded/cramped. The dining staff also came across as very stressed out by this chaos..
Area around the hotel, including the Safeway that existed in the nearby mall is much like the rest of the city - going out of business/shutting down because of SF government challenges & effective legalization of theft
Fishermans Wharf area and waterfront was surprisingly clean compared to previous years

Friendly staff, clean hotel with great facilities. Excellent breakfast sets you up for the day. Safe neighbourhood.

Second time at the RIU and it was great. Got a free room upgrade at check in. My favourite part about this hotel. Staff are friendly and efficient at check in. Location is amazing so close to Pier 39 and very walkable. Breakfast is included and it’s so good. Beds are super comfortable and give me the best sleep I’ve ever had. Highly recommend.

The entire hotel is clean and updated. We were given a free upgrade to a room with a sofa which gave us extra space. The bathroom was a bit small but clean. The housekeeper came everyday and even called us the one day we had the do not disturb sign up to schedule the cleaning at our convenience. The breakfast buffet is huge and has a wonderful selection of hot and cold food. The waiting line might look long however we never waited more than 5 minutes for a table. The location is only about a block from pier 39 and is walkable to Cvs and Trader Joe's. We loved the location and definitely would stay there again. We felt safe walking around and saw security guards outside regularly. It was a great place for families.
