Very quiet and relaxing if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Nice pool and not crowded.

Lacking hospitality.

The property was fine....room was fine... the location was perfect for what I wanted.... the staff ....well the concept of hospitality was lacking. First, I called and asked about a slightly early checkin, and was told no because of how busy they were. When I got there, well they clearly were not busy. That I could have overlooked, but when I arrived at the property at the proper time, it was hard to understand where to check in. So I called, and they immediately put me on hold, and then after sitting for 10 minutes, hung up on me. So finally I found a sign that stated check in a the "pro shop" which was at the back of the property. I went there, no cars in the parking lot, no one in the pro shop, so know reason to put me on hold and then hang up. When I went to check in, I said nothing about any of this, just asked for my room. The lady was very put out about helping me, she showed me where to go on a map, but when I asked her about where we were on the map, she was really put out. And then she couldn't figure it out and got more put out. She didn't know what building she was in, on HER OWN MAP. So I had to just drive around to find the rooms. And as I was walking out the door, she yelled at me that if I wanted to eat at the property , it would take a reservation.... I said, not to worry about that.

Dear David, it is always disappointing to hear that we did not meet guest expectations in any aspect of their visit. Fortunately for us, it is a rarity, but indeed still important to us that we receive ALL feedback (positive and negative), that we take it seriously, and that we look into ALL matters to determine what actions may be appropriate and/or what we could have done better. After reading your review multiple times, I initially wanted to address each one of your relatively minor complaints individually, but then I figured it wasn’t a good use of my time since you have already assumed the role of judge, jury, and executioner by posting a less than stellar review online. So instead, I will agree to disagree with your harsh assessment, and leave you with this: For more than 33 years, we have built our operation into one of the most recognized and successful sporting lodges and destination resorts in the world. While we are certainly not perfect, we are pretty dang good at what we do. The finest amenities, extraordinary experiences, impeccable service, and warm Texas hospitality are, and have always been, the pillars of our success (but don’t just take my word for it, you can find literally thousands of guest reviews on multiple online platforms supporting that claim). I also think it is important for you to know that we stand behind those pillars daily by employing an “always do what’s right for the guest” approach to our operations. In fact, it is common practice for us to go above and beyond to “make things right” for guests who experience an occasional shortcoming. In other words, when guests actually tell us about any disappointments or frustrations when they are on property (when we can rectify first-hand), we will typically go to the “ends of the earth” to regain their favor so they can enjoy their stay at our beautiful property, or at least accept our sincere apology in person. Obviously, you opted not to say anything to anyone until after your stay when you chose to post an extremely one-sided critique in a very public forum giving us no chance to make things right. But I digress – that’s the world we live in today. Next time you visit the area, I hope you find the “lacking hospitality” you were looking for elsewhere.

Great place!

The place is very very nice and super quiet at night. No complaints at all. The staff is great! Wish we could swim in the creek but we couldn't due to the low levels. Hopefully we will be able to on our next stay. Didnt get to do any shooting but there will be other opportunities.
