The cabin was spacious and clean. The furnishings were good, and the cooling aand heating worked well. The unit was good but entirely too overpriced. The heater made a weird noise all night, the tablet to cominucate with the front desk did not hold a charge and the shower water leaked all over the bathroom floor. Our stay included breakfast and dinner. The breakfast was nice the forst day, but the second day the hotel did not have enough staff to accomodate for the amount of people at the hotel. They ran out of plates, coffee cups, water, and food items and were unable to replace them in a timely fashion. The property is a walking distance from santas village which was nice.

The Santa Igloo with hot tub was phenomenal for viewing the northern lights at night and enjoying the natural surroundings during the day. Excellent location and awesome customer service.

Property was brilliant. Staff were professional and helpful at all times. My husband was celebrating a very special birthday and the hotel went out of their way to help make it special. The igloo itself felt special and we were pleased to have had the experience. Restaurant food and breakfast buffet were really good-especially the dinners were fabulous! We had our 5 year old with us and SCV was easily walkable for us plus sledges are provided if needed

Disappointing, way too small for families.

This property has a campground-esque feel, with rows of igloos dotted throughout. It is one of the farthest properties from the central part of Santa Claus Village, about a 5-10 min walk to the action. We checked in that morning and they said they would call us when the room was ready. We came back at 3pm and found our luggage had been delivered to our room but they never called us, so the check-in experience was a disappointment. We are a family of four (two kids ages 8 and 11) and the four person igloo is very small. There is a little entry way for your boots and clothes, no common space, a nice master bedroom in the actual igloo part, but the second room with two twin beds literally fills the entire room, wall to wall, so you have to get on and off at the foot of the bed. They also warn you the igloo only has a water tank for 20 mins of shower time, so you’ll need to be quick with four people before it goes cold. Breakfast buffet was the most disappointing of the three hotels we stayed at in Finland. However, ironically, dinner in their restaurant was very good and probably the best we had. To be fair, the igloo concept is super cute, but just wasn’t practical for us. We also learned the odds of actually being in your igloo, laying cozily in bed, and seeing the northern lights is probably 2%, because you generally have to drive out late at night to an open nature area with limited light pollution.

Dear Sir/ Madam, Thank you for your feedback and review. You are right, we are the farthest property from the central part of Santa Claus Village. The distance is about 500 meters. Normally, it takes about 2 minutes by walk, moreover, it really depends on the person and the purpose of the walk. If the visitor is leaving the village, probably he or she would pulling the suitcases and that take more time. If the visitor is travelling with kids, kids will surely like to play in the snow. I am very happy to hear that your suitcases were delivered to your igloo before you did your early check in. I kindly remind you that the official check-in time is 16:00. The igloo size and the interior of the igloos are pictured and advertised in many online channels as well as our own website. Your description of the igloo is matching with our advertisement. I do understand it might feel tight with suitcases of 4 people. That is why all of our Premium Igloo with Alcove categories are connected with Premium Igloo with Sauna. It is possible to double the size by purchasing Premium Igloo with Sauna. Regarding hot water, I believe there is a communication mistake, and I will go through the check-in process with the reception team and we will fix it. I do apologies for it. Each igloo has its own hot water tank. The hot water will not run out in 20 minutes, however, in case if the hot water is completely used, it will take 20 minutes to get the hot water again. We have a feeling of inform the guest about it since the cultural differences might cause misunderstanding or misleading thoughts and experiences. As you mentioned in your review, igloo concept was not practical for you and your family. Igloo accommodation is a combination of experience and accommodation. That is why comparing igloo experience with previous experience of accommodations might lead you disappointment feelings.I am sorry to tell you this, however, I will be disagree about 2% of chance to see northern lights from the igloos. Santas Igloos Arctic Circle is located at the end of the village as you mentioned. It is because we avoid all the light pollution of the village and the city. Moreover, our igloos are facing the north sky and there are no any other buildings in front of us. In igloo areas, we have streetlights which are censored. They switch on for a short time if another guest is passing by. Also, we have aurora alert system inside the igloos. Our guests do not need to join any tour to see the lights, however, it is a personal preference. Some of the visitors would like to maximize their chance to see the lights and want to go to further north, some visitor would prefer to stay in the igloo. I found your feedback very useful for the potential guests since you have pointed out many things which are about the personal preferences. I truly hope that you will also find my answers informative. I and my team wish to warmly welcome you again in the future. Have a lovely day. Best rega

Green Lady in Rovaniemi

Posted 14 Feb 2024 on Hotels
We were initially dreading for the worst as the room heating wasn’t working and it was -25C outside. Thankfully staff here really did try and make it comfortable for us until the fuse was eventually replaced. Jani in particular was really good 👍 We were very fortunate to have witnessed the Green Lady so all’s well that ends well.
