Lovely clean rooms with a continental breakfast within 8 mi of Jay Peak. We were only disappointed that the restaurant was closed Sun-Wed as we had looked forward to trying the food!

Glad that you enjoyed your stay, and sorry that the restaurant wasn't open? It is a challenge to staff up these days even for four days. We are closed for mud season but will open again on May 8; hope you will be back when the kitchen is open!

It’s quiet, clean, no hassle country Inn. Wish there were more sitting area near fireplace. Only dining seats. Would love to sit with a book and relax with my morning coffee.

The Black Lantern Inn goes back to 1802 and is in the heart of Montgomery, a small rural town in far northern VT. The room was spacious, clean with a comfortable bed. Nothing fancy - mostly vintage furniture. Checkin is curious in that there is no desk person as such but your key with a paper with your name and room number on it is on a bench in the vestibule as you come in. You can contact the owners by text or phone as needed. The bathroom en suite with a good shower. The dining area is attractive and, while I didn't eat a full meal there, friends of mine who have had dinners there say the food is very good. They do provide a modest continental breakfast. There is a lot of beautiful scenery in the area and the Inn is not too far from the Jay Peak ski resort. Quebec and its beautiful towns is only a short drive further north. I enjoyed my two nights at the Inn and would not hesitate to return.
