A small hotel on Mt Etna. Two brothers manage the family property and they are both great. The chef (Mateo) serves up delicious dinners. You should know that it is an hour or so from any village. It is about 25 minutes from the main area at the top of Etna and close to amazing country (Etna’s slopes are like nothing I have ever seen). So a wonderful little hotel. Highly recommend it.

The location was perfect as my partner was getting up early to climb Mount Etna summit, while I preferred to enjoy a delicious breakfast and walk to the cable car later. The Hotel has so much character, and dinner was traditional Sicilian cooking, which we enjoyed. The staff looked after us brilliantly, going out of their way to serve us an early breakfast the day we left. Recommended.

The property is not in very good condition and needs some upkeep. The staff was very accommodating although spoke very little English. the dinner food and wine was very good. We were the only people staying at the hotel so found it strange that there was no staff on duty during the night.

Country Gem

We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Dorata. It's located in a bit of a remote area nearer to the top of Mt. Etna so a little challenging to find but certainly worth it. This inn has Sicilian charm and lots of historical pieces and yet it has been completely modernized. The real prize here was the food and service. The owner, Pietro, greeted us and we were able to purchase drinks and enjoy the full coffee bar service in a dining room with an incredible view overlooking Catania and several other smaller towns (so pretty at night!). Pietro's wife cooked all the food and it was some of the best I had in Italy. I have a gluten allergy and she totally accommodated me. The pasta with pistachios was amazing as were the ricotta tarts and all of the other foods. My husband is still raving about it. The breakfast was equally delicious with all kinds of home-baked cakes, sweets and rolls. Highly recommend this inn.

Nice location if you want to stay in Etna

Posted 31 Mar 2018
Pros: Clean room, friendly staffs, free breakfast
Cons: Clean room, friendly staffs, free breakfast
Location: close to Mt Etna and the village / cable car.
This hotel is called Golden Villa Hotel on Google map, the location is close to Mt. Etna's cable car / village. It is a small hotel (more like a big house?) with a restaurant inside, but the restaurant happened to be closed on the night we stayed. Hotel staff is very friendly and like to interact with everyone and learn about different culture and language. We really enjoy her company. Hotel room is very clean but the room I stayed have a strong smell of India incense which I really don't like, the other room that my friend stayed in does not have the smell. Comfort of the bed is just average. Does not have elevator and the stairs are narrow, not good for people who have heavy or large luggage. Overall is a good place to stay, I cannot say if the price is average or pricey since I went there during low season and it was consider very cheap at the time.

Buonasera, mi dispiace che non giudichi le condizioni del posto "il top". Mi farebbe piacere sapere in cosa la struttura pecca in modo tale da poter migliorare e magari averla nuovamente come nostro ospite.
