Jungle retreat
Posted 16 Feb 2023 on HotelsThe property is nice but be aware this place is an hour away from the city. If you’re looking for a retreat, this is a good place. The singing of the birds will wake you up in the morning.

Pros: It’s a beautiful property, the room, porch, and view we’re lovely. Cons and things to note-The beach is hard to get to, and is not swimmable, the pool is 6 feet deep end to end with only a metal ladder for access - definitely not kid or elderly friendly. The food was good but inconsistent - the same dish was ordered by two people at our table and the proportions were drastically different. The service is seriously lacking. It started at check-in. I had originally booked three nights in a chalet, when we decided to stay a fourth night there was only one room available on this site so I booked it. Upon arrival I was told that I would be charged for the upgrade to a chalet for the 4th night. I hadn’t even asked yet! Really guys? The price difference was negligible And wasn’t the issue, but more about guest experience - Welcome, we’re charging you extra for something you haven’t even asked for. The next thing I was told is that there was no bartender working that day, so beer was the only possible choice. We had just traveled five hours from El Nido to get there, this was certainly not the greeting or level of service (especially in the restaurant) we were expecting from a four-star hotel.

Dear Guest,
Thank you very much for your appreciation. We were glad to host you.
We are sorry about the misunderstanding upon check-in. As you booked three nights in a Villa, and one extra night in a Suite, for you to have a smooth stay the receptionist offered to stay only in the Villa for a little extra due to the upgrade. It was of course not an obligation and we are sorry if she didn't express it correctly.
Upon your arrival our barmaid was on day off, but beers, soft drinks, fruit shakes, coffee and wine were still available, only the cocktails were not available this day.
We indeed have a kid pool for the younger ones who cannot swim.
Again thank you for taking time to write a review. We appreciate your comment and we take it into consideration.
Have a lovely day!

The property was so unique and beautiful. Service lacked professionalism and experience but they made up for that with their kindness. Would definitely stay again.

Great staff, location and overall amenities.
Management could work a little on menu variety, but otherwise, my family and I had an amazing stay with our 2 year old.

The beach was down a very difficult footpath ,it wasn't safe at all . I wouldn't recommend going down there, even though the beach was lovely and the views were wonderful There was a sound every morning at 6 that woke me up and I wasn't happy about that. There wasn't much choice in the break fast and the phone signal was none at all

Dear guest,
Thank you for your comment. We really appreciate your feedback.
The path to the beach is a short hike of 25 min through the jungle/rice field, a full immersion in Nature in our 25hectares Jungle Park. It starts with concrete steps then a forest walk.
As a Jungle Hotel we are surrounded by the amazing flora and fauna of Palawan, lots of endemic bird species can be observed from the terrace of our villas, sometimes monkeys and many more. With the sunrise at 6am, everyday of the year insects and birds are waking up and greeting the sun in their own way. This is all natural and it is a beauty of life.
We offer the choice of 5 different breakfasts on the menu. Being a Jungle Retreat facing the wild Ulugan Bay the mobile phone signal is not as strong as in the city but near the reception the signal is good enough to make phonecall. Wifi is available in the common areas.
Thank you again for your stay at Atremaru Jungle Retreat!
