The room we had was small and could be noisy at night since it faced the river and there are restaurants next door. The staff and service was fantastic though and the location is close to so much.

I cannot recommend Guest House Douro enough! Spotlessly clean, wonderful breakfast, and fabulous service. Philip and Luis were so helpful and did everything they could to ensure that we had everything we needed. It's also ideally placed overlooking the river, in easy walking distance for the city. Will definitely return!

Fantastic property right in the river Douro. Staff could not have been more helpful. Knowledgable and nothing was too much. Both Luis and Phillip were amazing.
My room was small but as it was only me it wasn’t a big problem. Doors opening onto the river. Bed was comfortable and toiletries available. Breakfast is amazing and if you want something they don’t have, they get it for you!
If you would like a property with taxi/uber able to drop you right outside, then there are only a few that can do this and you would have to walk with luggage up and down steep hill.

All the reviews you've already read are true. The people that run GHD truly make this place special. The rooms are small, but well thought out. We had Room 402 and the view was stunning. The breakfast was like a work of art. One morning we werent feeling well and they brought it to our room. They brought us coffees to our room every morning before breakfast and even bottles of water. They helped us with directions, Ubers, dinner suggestions, and were very friendly and kind. We are on our 3rd hotel on our Portugal trip, and we didnt realize how good we had it until we were gone. Thanks to all of you for starting our trip off right. Love, the Twins.

We can't love this place enough. EVERY staff member was so helpful and accommodating. I will tell everyone staying in Porto that GHD is a MUST stay. Shout out to Philip for a great welcome. And, the lady working the dest in the am (sorry don't remember her her) was so nice. Ohh , and fantastic breakfast as well.

The attentiveness of the staff outshines the other positive attributes of this charming small inn. Your every wish is fulfilled by Louisa, Louis or Philip. Last minute reservation at the chicest new dining spot? Done! Ride service the day of departure? At the door!
