Beautiful setting over looking the Valley. Very nice people working the hotel. Would definitely recommend.

Avoid this hotel!

Described as a "4 Star" hotel and it most certainly is not. Let's get the positives out of the way first. The welcome by the two ladies at reception was lovely and the views from the main but unusable terrace were superb, but there it ends. Our room was last updated in the 1960's the only seat was a wooden church pew and a desk chair. We had booked a mountain view but we had no windows, so to see the view you went outside to our "garden", actually a wide path, a view was possible if you stood up, but if you used the provided seats which were not seats as they were unusable, even if you did get on them you started at a blank wall. Perhaps a drink in the bar, nope as there are no seats, sit outside the bar, sadly not as this was a pathway with chairs, perhaps a drink on the main terrace 30 / 40 meters away up a significant flight of stairs, yes but each drink will carry an extra charge to bring it to you we were told! We arrived hoping to have dinner but the restaurant was closed as chef was elsewhere that night. We booked for the next night as it reviewed well, but the next morning we were informed that other residents were using it and there was no room for these two residents. Quite unbelievable. A very poor experience, desperately overpriced for what it offers and I very much doubt the authenticity of the posted reviews

However, I must clarify some points.First and foremost, our Borgo is, in fact, a 4-star hotel, as it meets all the necessary requirements and comfort standards to hold this rating. The construction of the village dates back to the early 2000s, and it is unlikely, as per your assumption, that the last renovation took place in the 60s.Regarding our restaurant, on the day of your arrival, it was closed for a charity event and not because the chef was elsewhere. I regret to contradict your claim that a reservation had been confirmed for the following day and then canceled. The reception staff had already informed you that it would not be possible to have dinner that evening, as the restaurant was fully booked, but they assured you that they would update you the following day if there were any changes.If your main desire was to dine with us, we always offer the option to make a restaurant reservation well in advance, even before your arrival.Kindest RegardsCustomer Care - Borgo i Tre Baroni

The property itself is old, but extremely quaint and charming. The area is very quiet and relaxing. The views and breathtaking, you feel completely transported to another era. Breakfast is delicious and the staff went above and beyond. They could not have been nicer and more accommodating. The area itself is remote and there is no transportation, so you will definitely need to book a car service or rent a vehicle.

There was no safe, no air condition and no restaurants close by. The hotel restaurant (only open in the evening) was a complete nightmare. We are there once and left starving because the portions were so small and some of my food was burnt. And this at a place that charges extortionately. I would not recommend it.

Thank you very much for your anonymous feedback. We always appreciate the opinion of our guest but there are some point I would like to touch: only spa suites rooms has air conditioning and if you look at the rooms amenities it is written in the description: it is always better to double check before making reservation and then complain for services not supplied. So as the safe: suites and spa suites rooms have safes but not comfort or family rooms. About restaurant: the menu it is just outside Mater restaurant which is always available for you to see. Mater is a fine dining restaurant and no, your dish was not burnt but cooked in ashes. There are plenty of restaurant nearby; 5 km Camaldoli, 9 km Camaldoli and there is a typical restaurant also in town, 20 steps from here. When you are in a place, it is always better to ask the staff which is always at your disposal.

Very lovely place to stay. We loved every minute !
