The property is huge. Has multiple restaurants, pools and bars. I arrived on 5/26 and expected kids to be running all over the place since it is a family friendly resort. Children were not in the way. They actually have a nice kid club. There was never a line for drinks. The buffet near the lobby called the festival fills quickly but there is another one in the Tulum building that is easier to access. There Italian restaurant was my favorite restaurant but there's also a steakhouse, seafood and French restaurant. The beach was nothing to write home about but it wasn't awful. There was lots of entertainment as well. Again everything I've mentioned was included at no additional cost. Plus I don't believe any other resort can beat their price in the area for the quality provided. The only thing I didn't care for was that the golf carts would sometimes drive by and not offer rides. That could be a problem depending on your building location and mobility. I absolutely loved my stay.

I spent a week at blue bay grand Esmeralda in Playa Del Carmen. The resort had plenty of food options which were satisfying. Being a large busy resort patience is a virtue with the beach bar and front desk. The staff do their best with the volume of guests but you are required to wait for things at times. The doors to the rooms had gaps on the top which was affected the ac in the room. Luis at the swing bar was lovely and always had the group smiling and laughing. The photographer Gerardo was amazing is capturing special moments. Alex at the pool for entertainment was a ray of sunshine and I enjoyed his poolside Zumba classes. The pool could use some extra cleaning with the size of it and the amount of people (kids). The beach was not swimmable with a massive amount of smelly seaweed and sand fleas. The beaches at the next resort is much better maintained and this was a much cleaner place to swim in the ocean. The entertainment and beach parties were always great! I enjoyed morning smoothies at the beachside buffet. All in all good bang for your buck and I would consider returning - especially after the renovations are completed. Pool renovation or an adults only pool should be considered since this is a mostly younger crowd and not everyone loves swimming with kids. Thank you BlueBay for having me! Kim from Canada!

This was my 5th time in Mexico and this resort wasn’t the greatest. The beach was terrible and smelled bad. The resort was large so there was lots of walking. There were workers with carts to drive people around but it was impossible to get one without a long wait making us almost late for our a la carte. The resort entertainment was almost non-existent at the pool during the day. The a/c in our room was not functional. We asked concierge to send someone to check multiple times. After a maintenance guy finally came, he claimed that it was working fine but we didn’t feel a difference.

Large resort, a lot of activities for everyone. Staff is very friendly. Downfall is that there were a lot of seaweed on the beach. I only was able to swim in the ocean in the last three days out of ten. A lot of people enjoyed using the pool.

No AC in dining areas- way to hot Speciality restaurants need serious improvements in the food quality and flavour department. Buffet was best and that was pushing to 2 star.

Room service was long on regular days, when more travelers arrived on Friday or Saturday's it became extremely long. Far walks from beach to room to front desk overall.
